It just grates on me why the players seem to be bullet proof even when the world is falling around them.

I expect I'd be the same in their circumstances. A severely warped sense of perspective and entitlement. Exacerbated of course by their vile agents. 3 EFL clubs furlough players Macclesfield don't pay players wages this predates the virus but is it the sign of things to come in the lower leagues.

The company I work for has furloughed 1000 employees and they will be paying the difference between the governments £2500 and what the employees real 80% would be. Those of us not furloughed have been requested to take a reduction in pay whilst the furlough period is in effect but at a much smaller amount. I don't see why the clubs couldn't in effect all agree to furlough every player and then pay the difference up to the players 80% pay or whatever number is agreed. Ultimately the players will have lifestyles that reflect their income and whilst they are paid a lot of money, it would be unfair on anyone to massively drop their wages, it's not like they could sell their properties and downsize at the moment.

I agree on where you’re coming from, only I don’t see Players suggesting a 30% DEFERMENT of wages for a short time is enough to address the issues really are living outside of reality, unless they want to prolong the problem or there’s so many older players with a shorter period left at the top having more influence and more interest in getting their fortunes without longer term concerns.

PFA says Premier League 30% pay cut plans would harm NHS The league wants players to take a 30% salary cut in order to protect jobs, amid the coronavirus pandemic. But the union says that equates to more than £500m in wage reductions, and a loss in tax contributions of more than £200m to the UK government. Now I've heard it all as that must be the most ridiculous excuse that I've heard.

Meanwhile the bin dippers are straight out of the blocks in furloughing their staff (anything for a free handout). Ex players and the good people of Liverpool don't seem to impressed with this. Burnley are saying that will take a hit of 50m if the season is not completed. I assume they mean if Sky demands it money back. I think the players need to wake up and smell the coffee. Public sympathy is at zero and the clubs are at real risk of the TV money drying up maybe the days of easy money are coming to an end?

If they’re concerned about the tax, why don’t they just say a percentage of the 30% cut goes to the government (to pay off debt or anything as it isn’t necessarily for the nhs) and the rest stays in the clubs. Only football is their concern. Stop playing at politics. Originally that 30% was going to be a deferment and not a cut. Unless that was either a rumour or they heard or knew it wasn’t going down well. Them feeling their backs are against the wall sounds like a call for sympathy because they don’t want to do it.
