Would probably be in the relegation zone if flapper was in goal this season.
Guaita is quality. Levels and levels and levels above Hennessy.

Tosh , you seem to forget Hennessey has played a part in keeping us in the premier every season we have been there.
Guita is in top form, and is the better keeper but we wouldn't be in the relegation zone if Wayne was playing.

Mrs Hennessey,

Please make sure Wayne has three shredded wheat so he doesn’t get knocked off course to jump 3 inches to catch those high balls.

Yours
All at CPFC

Wayne Hennessey pffffft don’t make us laugh.

wonder how Nige would do in today's prem. vg's kicking is a weakness but it's levels better than Nige's (as I remember it, anyway). (yes Nige was a great keeper and a Palace hero)

If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities.

no hes not the best in the prem, not by a long shot...

I disagree. There is no way hew would have made the howlers Ederson and Lloris have coughed up in the last few days. de Gea is well past his best, Kepa out of favour and Pickford a bit of a joke.
I think we have the best goals allowed to expected goals against in the league and a lot of that is down to him

I don’t like to compare players from different eras because the football styles change. Goalkeepers are now svelte figures, and being protected by refs has helped that happen. Many keepers including Nigel Martyn. Nigel used to treat his wife to pasty and chips at a local chippy on Saturday nights after he returned from away games. True! The glamour! And that was probably his second meal and possibly chippy meal of the night.

Every goalkeeper makes a costly mistake, even Guaita who as we all know was responsible for a howler against Sheff Utd.

He has been excellent for us this season and worthy of plaudits but alas I don't place him higher in the 'Totem Pole' than the likes of Alisson,Ederson, De Gea, Pope etc.We all have our opinions about players and of course there are a divergence of views!

I have met Nigel and Amanda on quite a few occasions.
Genuinely lovely people with no airs and graces. They are the very quintessence of respectability. They are now resident in the Harrogate area.

No need for nasty comments from the WH-haters! You call WH 'flapper' yet VG is the one who has trouble catching the ball from crosses preferring to punch at any opportunity, and I certainly cannot remember WH ever dropping a corner into his own goal. Both are decent keepers who make the odd mistake as all keepers do. The trouble with this board is that people either think certain of our players are the best in the world or the worst when the truth is neither.

Picked it out of the corner a few times though.

For my part, I think we should be grateful that we have the Wales GK as our no 2.
BUT back to Guaita, I'll repeat an earlier comment that I believe that THIS SEASON he is amongst the best in the Prem. Some of the Big Teams' stars have been slipping off their perches as has England's so-called no 1 (who, of course, kindly let Benteke score a goal).
The proof re Guaita's status should come this summer when we see, who, if any, makes a bid for him.
