Roy "Marmite" Hodgson. It would appear there is a difference of opinion in the HOL ranks. If he gets backed in the summer window we might see a slight change in tactics. If he doesn't then it will be the same old, same old and Palace will only be getting my support via a stream, because I'm not paying to watch that style of football any more.

Whats that then after all these years? Still just to not get relegated? That’s progress for you.... I believe the sole objective is survival in the PL, thus far Hodgson has delivered and in all likelihood will meet this objective this season.

As a lot of have said on here, Roy gets the best out the team and there isn't anyone else who we could attract that would do the same. Record points last season and highest points total at this stage of the season this year. Still we have people complaining.. baffles me. A long slog staying up, is a lot easier than being bottom playing 'expansive' football like Norwich/Brighton/Villa/Bournemouth.. One key point that nobody has mentioned is the possibility of Wilf leaving this summer. There are many who believe Palace are a one man team and will get relegated without Wilf but with Roy in charge he will be perfect for this transition, if it does happen.

Really can't believe that people don't see staying in the Premier League as a terrific achievement to enjoy. When I see Arsenal or Liverpool run on to the Selhurst turf I feel absolutely no nostalgia for the days when I watched us in the the Third Division (South) playing teams no one's ever heard of or would want to, on a mud heap in front of a few thousand, if that! Premier League - terrible state of affairs....

Brighton wanted a change of direction, removed Hughton from his duties and appointed Potter. Edited by Willo (06 Mar 2020 4.35pm)

I am delighted he has agreed an extension. With possible major player exits in the summer there could not be a better manager to try to get new players in to keep the teams balance and improve it. All the players talk of how much they enjoy playing under him and about the team compatibility. This positive group attitude is because of the management skills of Roy and his team so there cannot be anyone more qualified at this point in time to take us forward.COYP

We haven't got the players at Palace to play expansive football! This will take up to 18 months to complete. By then we will have a new manager who I doubt will get more of say in transfer matters than Roy has! However at the current time as you speak to fans of other lesser Premier teams they do envy us at Palace virtually safe again for another year with 10 games to go.

If I heard correctly its a year extension, if so an assistant would be a good idea so that if he retires after that we can have a seamless transition. How about Gerrard. Dougie Freedman

Haven't bothered to read all of this thread, BUT, imho, i'm torn. On one hand its great news, on the other, its 'oh god'. I, like others are happy that we've almost secured Prem status. On the other hand, do we 'REALLY' want to have another season of 'Iceland Roy'? Serious comment & serious Q?
This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

Ive found the football boring but the results have been unexpected. personally id like to see more pressing and some drive forward in the games where we just form the roman tortoise (barracade) and try and shelter from the hail of arrows. This means we will not be spending any money again as the owners have escaped again without any need for the chq book. COYP
