He's especially good considering the way our expansive football and lack of holding midfielders leaves the central defenders so exposed.

In my relatively short life, Sakho's performances for that half-season when he first arrived at the club were the best example of centre-back play I've ever seen for Palace. He was an absolute beast defensively, and we saw an instant improvement in our play with his balls forward. We beat West Brom in our first or second game and this one centre-back had boosted the level of the whole team. Unfortunately, injury means he might never get back to that level. As for Cahill, fantastic, solid defender and a great organiser too. He and Dann don't have much pace between them but have shown in the last couple of games what excellent footballing brains they've got.

One of Cahill's strengths is his leadership. He brings out the best of the defenders and galvanises the whole team by example. He is everything that Miliovejic is not and should be given the captaincy.

Peak Scott Dann was a special player. Seems to have been forgotten. And as straight up defenders, Tomkins and Kelly are great. Sakho at his top is also a magnificent player who hugely improves us. Many good names mentioned. Cannon, Moore, Thorn, Young...half the time it's how well drilled they are to get the details right in individual matches
If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities. |

Anyone remember just how good Craig Moore was? the Australian we had for a short stint. He was one of the best CB's I have seen as a palace fan, literally nothing got past him.

Glad 'beak' mentioned Alan Stephenson, I was going to but didn't want to show my age! Has Mel Blyth been mentioned (he probably has), he was bloody good too. Like Willo I saw Jim Cannon's debut and was right behind the goal when he scored. I believe that win against Chelsea ended a long unsuccessful run in London derbies. Like others on here I have been eating humble pie having been seriously unimpressed by Cahill's signing. I do think Cahill may very well be the pick of the bunch.
