Correct, this has been mentioned a million times on TV, radio, podcasts etc. Roy's tactic does work every now and again away from home. We sit back, frustrate them, get the home crowd anxious and sometimes we come away with a decent point or all three. Problem is at home when he plays the same way, the negative approach is boring the pants off people. And if we go a goal down, there's no way back. Maybe we need two coaches, one for home games and one for aways. Roy now has a worse record than Pardew. We are now losing games where we've not even given it a go.

Sure a couple of wins could change it all fairly rapidly. I just can't where they're coming from. You obviously were not at the Sheff United game. We were the better team and certainly did not deserve to lose that game. On another day we could have converted one chance, Guaita would not have made such a rare mistake and we'd have won that game instead of lost it.

That's not correct ... the "better team" would have taken their chances and won the game. We didn't. Admittedly, Guaita made an uncharacteristic error that lost us the game but other than that we were not threatening their goal so heading for another draw. The problem is still our finishing ... or lack of it!

Possession and looking good whilst having it versus scoring goals. They are two very different things. Yes, for large parts of the match we bossed the game but if you can’t score it is impossible to win.

And if the game had ended a draw (fairer result) everyone would have acknowledged Palace were the better team end of. Because Sheff U flukily won its easy to ignore that fact.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Staying up!!' by Midlands Eagle We now enter our winter break, giving another two weeks for injured players to recover and improve the choices available to Roy before we have an opportunity to move away from the relegation pack with potential wins against Newcastle, Brighton and Watford. These three games may well be season defining and are all winnable.

So we can't reach 40 points by the end of February (but a win against BHA on Saturday would take us to 36). When will we reach 40? I'm going to go for getting there/past there after the home game against Burnley on 4th April. So for me at least 7 points from the next five games (or four games if Liverpool beat Chelski in the FA Cup and our Anfield trip is postponed to a later date - the other four are all winnable - we picked up 8 points in the reverse fixtures).

West Ham losing last night was a big plus we had a good weekend we are now 9 points off the relegation zone probably 10 if you include goal difference. I think Norwich are down and the Watford bounce seem to have petered out. My only concern is West Ham who always seem to dig themselves out however Villa and Bournemouth are in a downward spiral. 40 points should be enough the sooner the better. COYP
