I cannot comment about any such conversation between Parish and Freedman. What I can confirm is that we lost our opening 3 games but won 6 of the next 8 games before Freedman 'Trotted' off to the 'Trotters'.

Crystal Palace has a team of people all with diufferent skill sets and responsibilities. I have no idea how the business is run or how it used to be run. Does any supporter really know? We always bang on about Parish did this or Hodgson did that or Freedman should do the other. In truth we have no idea how much influence Dougie had on recruitment over the time he was Palace manager or how much influence Roy has today. All we do know is that things appear very broken at Palace. Our recruitment has been poor for several years and our first team is getting weaker compared to our rivals. Something has to change and we argue about the best way to change things but I think most of us want something to change. Losing Dougie is a fairly small low risk change and I would be happy if we start there.

He would probably do alright for them - and then leave onto bigger things after a few months.

Got nothing but admiration for him, his issues were between him and parish, never the club, fans need to remember that and let's look at Parish, which manager enjoyed working with him and stayed with it and didn't criticise him?

Bearing in mind the whole story still really only amounts to a rumour....... Dougie seemed to be hardly more than a smokescreen for continuing to work with Iain Moody after his questionable sense of humour forced his resignation. Since everyone now knows about that, maybe his role is over? Supposing Dougie has been contributing more than that, he made some excellent signings as Manager and the club has made some excellent signimgs while he's been DoF - Cahill, Kouyate, McCarthy for instance. Last summer's apparently disappointing activity will make more sense if rumours turn out to be true that a Zaha for Batshuhayi swap based deal only awaits the end of Chelsea's tranfer ban. We might see more of Camasara then too.

Dougie has always had some magical hold over Parish. You only have to read the Holloway interview where he refers to the amount of time Parish would telly Holloway what Dougie would have done if he were still there. I like Dougie, he's been a great servant to the club. However, I would much rather, if we go down the route of having a DoF type role, have someone who is much more qualified doing it. Player recruitment and overall forward thinking strategy in terms of the playing squad and style of play has always been where we are lacking. Either trust the manager to get his players in or appoint a DoF with a real vision and long term strategy who can get players that the manager will happily put into the system.

Not for me. Hope he goes. I dread the window, the ridiculous last minute stuff, the lack of signing the players we need (right back, striker) in countless windows, since he’s been in that role. Would rather Roy moved upstairs and we got a young manager in who could learn under his watchful eye. Edited by Helmet46 (16 Nov 2019 7.54am)

Fans moaned to death about the endless one goal games, very very much like Hodgson but because we were playing in a lower league he had more consistency with the low scoring wins that was all. if Hodgson had Bolasie and Murray today we would be so much better in the opposition box lol

Requires a long term manager, where lot and lots of clubs fail, look at Arsenal now, Wenger was slowly trying to rebuild and their fans wouldn't have it lol replacing managers for a fix never ever works out, the fix only involves the players, never the manager ..even for our Dutch manager he couldn't cope with our players lack of ball control and passing and he got the bullet!

What rubbish, he left for more money, taking the main staff with him, this in the middle of the season when it is hard to find a new manager, unless you can find another Greedman. Year, he really cared about the club and fans. Yes, he was a great player, but has gone from hero to zero.
