I'd say Come Dine With Me's fav dessert was Lemon Possett, not mine, never had it, though I do love a Tarte Citrone - if you get them frozen they're dirt cheap, split a strawberry, add a basil leaf, ooohh, suits you sir! My Dad's friend's misses was from Wales and used to make amazing old school puds - once made a jam steamed pudding with clotted cream, the strawberry jam was home-made and tangy, the steamed suet sponge was made perfectly so it was light and with the cream, it was nearly 40 years ago and I can still taste it - frequently use this memory as a masturbatory fantasy. Sticky toffee pud is a quite recent invention but is one of the few things that makes me proud to be British. Oh and Nick Gusset shame one you with your dessert is non-u and we have to say pudding - one should also say lavatory instead of toilet and that is where these attitudes belong you filthy snob you.

I like pear and ginger cobbler served with clotted cream.

Once had a pear and butterscotch tart in a tea room in Honiton, Devon maybe 10 years ago, think it's closed down now, shame, wasn't 'alf nice. Poles do very nice baked cheesecakes, and Austrian and Czech cream cakes are very nice I can tell you, Austrian chocolate cakes covered in chocolate butter icing are right up there, Czechs do these buns with spiced cottage cheese inside, cinnamon, nutmeg and raisins, yum, yum.
