Broke my head as a child trying to understand why he turned out for Arsenal and not us. Always hated them since.

Still he's a legend to me...

I heard a report last week is on the verge of bankruptcy and lives in a terrace house. Apparently bad financial advice and numerous divorces. Sad really you'd thougt he'd be a made man, even if he did come before the bonkers money.

Six seasons of sheer ingenuity, passion, great goals and some skill and all at the same time as promotion, our first FA Cup final appearance and third in Division One (The Prem).

He is our greatest ever player.

No one who was there will disagree.

I was there and i disagree !

Well, then. I reckon you must have been born sometime between 1978 and 1983? I.e too young to truly remember.

Either that or you are an oldie with a terrible memory

Why this man is regarded as a Palace legend is beyond me. He thinks of himself as an arsenal player who once spent some time at Palace. He's a f***ing disgrace, the contempt he's shown the club until very recently.

Anyone at Highbury on the day who saw his reaction to the Palace fans when his goal sent us down will know the truth of the kind of man he is.

Surely it takes more than what you do on the pitch to become a club legend. He was a good striker but also an arrogant, unpleasant, vain git

Agreed, and I've seen Palace games since 1966. 50 years, cripes.

I have joshed with Wrighty on "606" a few times, he always gets wound up by Spurs fans, deliberately I think. I once had to phone up after one had got him incoherent about crowd chanting, so I asked him whether he remembered when Gazza came to Selhurst in 1990 after the World Cup and the Holmesdale were chanting "Mars Bars" at him, and someone threw one on the pitch at him. He burst out laughing and said "Yes, and he picked it up and ate it!""

Either you were one of the unpleasant individuals who scribbled disgusting graffiti over his Mother's house when he left us, or you never saw him play for Palace. You as a 'Palace fan' are the disgrace if you did see him play.
