Isn't much of this complaint about Islam ironic since our own Christian based law and history implicitly accepted that women who had no rights within marriage, were deemed the property of their husbands and therefore could be beaten and until relatively recently raped. Much of this behaviour whilst now outlawed continues sadly and if you have ever had to deal with domestic abuse you will know it is all alive and kicking albeit perhaps less so than the mid 20th century when I was growing up.

Ironic how? Britain has been very progressive in righting the wrongs of the past and if Islam has it's way we will be plunged back into the dark ages. Christians also used to burn and hang so called witches once. Does that mean it's OK for someone else to do it now?

Nothing wrong with a bit of spanking to jazz things up, especially if she doesn't wash her foo-foo and dress up as a nurse.

No it isn't, my point is that in claiming that it is all about Islam is just wrong and we should also look at the Christian culture here which has indeed righted some of the historic wrongs but the leftovers are still there in our society and whilst I loathe seeing these attitudes being expressed by some other cultures/religions, it just seems daft to think it is all external to this society when it is still a very strong element in British behaviours from Christian traditions.

Well Christianity here generally has turned a corner, but there are still some fringe types and the Christian Nutbar movements have gathered some sway in more recent years. That said, its not just Islam that's an issue in regards to the rights of individuals in the face of the oppression of religious 'virtue' - Across the world there are plenty of countries where 'Christianity' is busy in persecuting people for not living up to their pseudo-moral codes. Same applies to Judaism, Catholicism, Protestantism etc. There are plenty of sects within British Christians that will deny rights to women, allow tacitly or explicitly the right of men over women and so on. Problem is people are c**ts are religion just enables them to be even bigger c**ts.

No it isn't. Please show me a religion that allows and indeed promotes acceptable violence towards women, other than Islam that is prevalent in society TODAY.
What is daft is your assumption that Christians go around beating there wives with gay abandon. This is simply made up rubbish in support of your, I have to say, warped religious ideology. Your posts actually sound like you are trying to deflect away from the barbarity of the article by saying "well it's not just Muslims". YES IT IS, in this day and age IT ABSOLUTELY IS JUST MUSLIMS THAT, (and here's the key bit ..try to follow). CONDONE VIOLENCE TOWARDS WOMEN. Domestic abuse, whether it be mental or physical is a crime in this country, and you can be arrested, tried and punished for it, please explain why a certain nut job religion should be exempt from the laws of the united Kingdom? I await your enlightened reply with baited breath.
