Also, those who are convicted of such crimes, aren't allowed to participate in general elections for seven years (I think) or to stand as MPs during that time. Which makes it very significant, if the returned MP for a constituency directly and knowingly benefited from such an advantage.

It's the first time in history that the electoral commission has started legal proceedings against a political party. Yet where is the press furore? If it was Labour under investigation. I'm sure it would be all over the front pages.

I'm sure it would be all over the front pages. You really make me laugh. You don't like it when things aren't going your way. For years on here we've had all your propaganda gathered from your Trotsky union mates attacking all and sundry as it was your want. Extracts from blogs giving graphs of Labour's prowess in just about every angle of politics... you've bombarded us with links to this and that to support your cause. No one has been spared your attention, Farage, Cameron, Osborne, Boris, anyone and everyone you despise... all these people have been subject to abuse for reasons ranging from right-wing toff to pigfcuker and wallpaper millionaire. You've gone for me, Matt_Himself and anybody else on here displaying a right-wing capitalist viewpoint. Trying to discredit us with accusations of being childish, unfair and disingenuous when we poke fun at your heroes... but now all of a sudden you find this unacceptable behaviour and don't like it because Corbyn is getting the treatment that Farage has endured for years. In fact the treatment hasn't got anywhere near as nasty as that dished out to Farage - Corbyn can still enjoy a Sunday lunch without having himself and his family subjected to nasty politically motivated thugs spoiling their meal. Give it a rest with the moaning and accept that political figures are subject to scrutiny and unfair criticism as well as protection from supporting media in times of need. The right wing papers are supporting the Tories just as the left wing papers are supporting their team. Obviously, the right wing press is choosing to play this matter down. The left wing papers need to try harder. Don't worry though, if the BBC get wind that there is proven political wrongdoing and heads to roll they will be all over it.

What do you think about the fraud allegations and the fact that Cameron is now embroiled by using the national budget to write to target constituents (which should be local budget)?

I think that at the moment the police appear to be investigating it. If Cameron or anyone else has broken the law then they will deal with it. You jumping up and down in a rage on here won't shorten the process will it?

I'm sure it would be all over the front pages. Given that it's only been around since 2001, that's not really surprising is it? Mind you, that's also worrying given the widespread rigging of elections in some parts of the country. That being said, the allegations look pretty serious, if shown to be true. By the way, I read about them in the Times. The story was also reported in the Daily Mail, the FT, and in a number of other newspapers.

So it seems his conspiracy theory about the media not reporting this is unfounded then?

Media corporations don't really have political allegiances anymore to politicians, in the modern and post-modern age, its more the other way around - Politicians court the media to engage with the electorate who respond to the media presentation. There have been 'hefty focus' and bias against Farage and Corbyn because they represent a threat towards the idea of a strangle hold the major media corporations hold over politicians. Even the media represented as strong right wing, were highly focused on UKIP and undermining their credibility.
