The sort of people that don't like The Office, Extras and Alan Partridge think Stewart Lee and Josh Widdicombe are funny. But hey.... Comedy is a personal thing and there are people who laugh at Miranda and are amused by Graham Norton.... whereas I want to punch him in the face. Stewart Lee helped create the character of Alan Partridge. Rather ironic don't you think? As is the fact that Stewart Lee derides comedians like Josh Widdicombe in his material.
I ain't got nuthin' funny to say. Sorry. |

Not according to Richard Herring he didn't.... I don’t think [Stewart Lee and I] deserve a credit for [co-creating Alan Partridge] to be honest. We joke around about it. We were heavily involved in On the Hour, we were one third of the writing team, we came up with a lot of the feeling of On the Hour and we wrote the first lines that Alan Partridge said but it was very much Steve [Coogan]’s creation and Armando [Iannucci]’s creation so, in reality, I wouldn’t expect anything back from that. I'll give him credit if he derided Josh Widdicombe though!

They do tend to be Stewart Lee fans. Interestingly I've never come across anyone who dislikes Partridge. Unlike David Brent (from reports about the new film) I think Partridge has got better and better with time.
