Pleased it raised a smile I love that album To be honest, my knowledge of lovers rock amounts to this album and the one Janet Kay song so if you have any recommendations for similar, I'd be all over it. Check out some Beres Hammond Easily my favourite artist and I'm not even a big fan of this genre tbh I'd recommend some Gregory Isaacs and Sanchez too

Gil Evans, worked with Miles Davis, a genius arranger, love this... I know fretless bass became ubiquitous in the 80s and was diluted to almost elevator muzac, but this is the man who brought the sound to prominence in the 70s, the late great Jaco! As the 60's came to a close Miles moved into different territory. Guitar and electric piano moved to the forefront, fusion was born, for better or worse! This is still greater than much of what followed. Edited by crystal balls (05 Feb 2016 10.09pm)

Shelleyan Orphan. Late 80's easy listening Indie with violins. Stunning first album (Helleborine) that I doubt I'll ever tire of. Shelleyan Orphan - Jeremiah Thomas Lang. Possibly a bit MOR for some but this bloke was the support on my first live gig (so, in effect, my first live act), had some tv exposure in the late 80's but never really took off. I've been hooked ever since. If you know him then shout! I reckon I'm on my own with this one (which I secretly quite like) Thomas Lang - The Happy Man The Impressions. Coz you can't get enough Curtis. The Impressions - It's all right I know I have said this before in relation to you pushing Curtis, but for crying out loud do not ignore your username! His eponymous album is bloody good too. I agree shelleyan orphan for horribly overlooked albums. There are a number of classics that have very much not been overlooked like forever changes, notorious Byrd bros, what's going on, marquee moon and everything by the pixies but I am embarrassed at appearing a bit mainstream.... How about the congoes?
