Interesting. I've said on here before how those with left wing tendencies don't seem to have a sense of humour because they've got so much angst about themselves and others. There's always a cause to fret about and defend. John Cleese is saying pretty much the same thing.

Cue the Lefties on here to get upset......

I'm just wondering how many who have posted in this thread also posted in the Emma Thompson one?

Has anyone said (to paraphrase) that they wish Cleese were dead, as someone did with Emma Thompson?

Of course Cleese is right, it would be good if we could all take the piss out of everybody, but we can't.

Societies change and evolve over time, the comics will just have to evolve with them. Unfortunately, that means we have had to endure the rise of Michael McIntyre and young comedians called Russell.

I'm hoping for McIntyre to do a routine about the Prophet Mohammed so at the very least he has to go into hiding.

I think a lot of the issue is that now you have to constructive take the piss out of someone. You can't just call Elton John a f**king queer of a poof, and chalk it off as comedy. Similarly with ethnicity, just picking on people for their race isn't really comedy, you have to actively engineer a real joke.

There is clearly a distinction between society evolving and recognising that gay and minorities are not a legitimate target for personal insults purely for being so. It is completely different however when religious dogma threatens us for speaking out against or making jokes about their deities. That is just a massive backward step and one we should not tolerate.

It would also help if some people matured a little and stopped being so easily offended. I find it difficult to have much sympathy with people who take everything so personally and so seriously. Get over yourself would be my advice.

Cleese has done nothing amusing since Fawlty Towers, having devoted his time since to being a pompous arse.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

And not one of them is even remotely funny.

Especially Eddie Izzntard, whose about as funny as a plane crash that kills hundreds of innocent people.

Then why are most people who over empathise political correctness complete bellends?

I find the patronising of cnuts who over emphasise political correctness as downright offensive. Some noncey pr1ck telling us how we should think and behave is like something out of Animal Farm.
It's no coincidence that complete fcukwits like Emma bloody Thompson champion it very well. Another bellend is that tit who played Tony Blair and Brian Clough. Michael Sheen I think.
Imagine if we went to war tomorrow knowing that you've got some know nothing butt plug like him or one of his kind fighting alongside you. I'd shoot myself straight away.

His book was quite a good read but not as entertaining as Mike Tyson, The Undisputed Truth.
