With the greatest of respect I don't place myself on any pedestal and I don't intend to come across with any hubris or haughtiness.I have always stated that I am far more self-deprecation than self-promotion and those who DO know me would say that "Humble" is one of the ways they could describe me.I am nothing special on HOL and I am happy to be a midge in the swarm, bowing down to others.

Here we go again, out with the usual set of clichés.

It seems that Willo, king of self promotion just can't help himself

I truly believe that you don't realise how you come across.

You often refer to "people you know" or footballers you have titbits on. I can believe it is all true just remember not everybody does have the same access so try and impart information with humbleness rather than hubris.

Just saying that you're stoking the fire.

Oh my.

Pot and kettle leap to mind, here.

Well he seemed like an odious individual. Just read that link Superfly posted. Awful stuff.

I met Cecil on a few occasions and he was the portrait of suave aplomb, a man of erudition and a true gentleman.

BULLs***

Hahahahaha...how did I know that was coming lol

There are those who are being judgemental about a particular episode in his lifetime.I'm not privy to all the facts but I thought I would re-dress the balance by stating how I found him on the occasions I met him.Found him to be a very nice and erudite chap.

Hitler would also come across a portrait of suave aplomb

Many said similar things about Jimmy Savile.

To make a comparison between Parkinson and Savile is repugnant and reprehensible.

Not even Savile had a disease named after him.

I've no time for a so-called distinguished gentleman who doesn't give a damn about his daughter whom he never wanted to see or never even sent a birthday / XMAS card to. If you can cheat on family life then one's professional attributes ring hollow. Famous really only for commandeering Thatcher's 1983 General Election.

To defend someone we met on a few occasions, because, upon those occasions, he was polite & erudite in his conversation with us, is a strange approach. The treatment of his daughter & mistress over many years reveal more than a few meetings in a public place.
Thus, if one of us met Jimmy Saville or someone who went on to commit crimes, or behave in such an unkind way, as Parkinson did, we should not spring to his defence, should we? Instead, we should accept the evidence of more than 18 years of rejection & coldness towards his own daughter. The latter speaks more about the true nature of Parkinson than an impression gained during a few chats-however suave & erudite their content. Just my opinion.

Met Rolf Harris once, and he was really nice, had a couple of drinks, discussed art. Seemed a great bloke, but turned out years later to be a nonce. Thing about people is they are multi-faceted and complex. Hitler by all accounts was a great chatter and conversationalist.

No problem with a guy wanting nothing to do with his daughter. In my opinion, either parents should get involved as much as possible or take no part. Its the ones that just fulfil their own guilty feelings and flip flop between the two that cause the damage.

Impossible, having never met Pol Pot, Stalin, Hitler or Ted Bundy, its impossible to meet a more despicable being.
