Closest one is Cate Blanchett but she's married and only said as much while promoting a film where she played a lesbian.

This is from the same school of thought that says that there should be more Black football managers even though,the amount of black players is hugely disproportionate to the few percent of black people in the population. only just seen this...pretty much spot on.

Most films have a mixed cast to appeal to the widest possible audience. That is business. The leading roles will go to appropriate actors who are often white because the population is overwhelmingly white. If anything I'd say black are over represented in films and on TV relative to their numbers.

Plenty of examples of black people being overlooked and plenty of people who love to pick up on statistics (have they only just counted up the black nominations after 85 years?) But the US seem to suffer more from 'white privilege' as if poor white people don't exist and it's the greatest gift on earth to be born a straight white male.

I would have been more impressed if people like Will Smith boycotted when actually nominated. Whatever the rights and wrongs, it Just smacks of sour grapes. Or are they saying that the oscars are only racist this year?
