Me and the missus are embarking on our very first cruise in June. That's around the Med too (Majorca, Corsica, Rome, Pisa, St Tropez, Cannes, Barcelona then back to Majorca for a 3 night stay). Sounds absolutely delightful. We have only been on one cruise - Took in Tenerife,La Palma, Gran Canaria, Madeira, Lanzarote and Agadir.Flew to Tenerife to pick up the boat, cruise ended in Tenerife and then we spent 7 days in Tenerife in Los Gigantes. It was termed a "Cruise & Stay". Hope you and your dear wife have a lovely time.

Considering a long New York weekend in the late Spring, then a few Summer weeks on a Greek island (TBD) then a week in October to Tenerife (been going there for 10 years).
Most certainly not European. |

In Australia, It was when we went for a few weeks at Christmas eight years ago but prices in Australia have spiralled out of control and restaurants that we ate in frequently are now ridiculously expensive

Santorini is a pretty special place. It's a live volcano basically with a huge chunk missing in the middle. Lost City of Atlantis supposedly and the scene of the biggest explosion/eruption ever. Spent two very long and very hot summers there back in the late eighties when it was on the backpacker trail. Aussie chicks aplenty. Akrotiri was just an archeological dig back then. Sitting on a bog that was 4,000 years old was fun. Best beach was Perissa. Very long and black sand which gets so hot it burns. Thira had the main nightlife and lovely windy cobbled streets high up looking over the caldera. Kamari was pretty good. Lots of tavernas, etc. The island is small enough to get around on a moped. Nice local wine which thrives on the volcanic soil fertility. Oia is famous for its sunsets. Place was ruins due to an earthquake when i went but hear it's all been spruced up now. Oh, and that floating poo coming towards you in the sea is safe. It's pumice stone.

The Aussie backpackers are long gone and have been replaced with refugees i'm afraid.

Taking the kids (10 and 6) to Duinrell in Holland again. Overnight car ferry + cabin from Harwich, which means we can nip to Leiden (lovely, lovely city) or even Amsterdam (overrated?) if we don't fancy unlimited roller coastering or aqua parking on site. Knocks Centre Parcs into the proverbial cocked hat. And the Dutch are just a great bunch of people.
Well I think Simon's head is large; always involved in espionage. (Name that tune) |
