As usual, The Onion nails it: Responsible Gun Owner Keeps Firearms Safely Locked Away Where Only He Can Get Them During Mental Breakdown

here's what's truly frightening to me. home-based 3d printers aren't very far away.
well, i mean it being a common thing most people have. neighbor makes you made: go in the house, print out a gun, walk to his house and shoot him. probably not that far away. Have you seen how slow 3d printers are? Good chance of calming down while you wait for it to complete.

They're already here. well, i mean it being a common thing most people have. neighbor makes you made: go in the house, print out a gun, walk to his house and shoot him. probably not that far away. Have you seen how slow 3d printers are? Good chance of calming down while you wait for it to complete. well it's obvious this isn't happening tomorrow. but we're not talking sci-fi 50 years from now. now i'll counter: have you seen how fast they got 3 months ago? the technology is exploding. The reason apparently. Justified, as it must be offensive if he deemed it to be.

here's what's truly frightening to me. home-based 3d printers aren't very far away. Fortunately, 3-D Printed guns aren't particually an issue, given they're really not suited to firing multiple shots. Its kind of weird how there is a lot of fuss over this in the US that you can make your own one shot pistol in about 10 hours, if you have a 3-D printer, but the idea of owning a 12 round handgun semi-automatic pistol and hundreds of rounds of ammo is consider perfectly fine. In reality, single shot pistols or zip guns have been around for decades and could be made for next to nothing by inexperienced individuals. Making an improvised firearm is remarkably easy without a 3-D printer.
