Oh those swiveling eyes of the left whenever fox hunting comes up.

Irrespective of the blatant and cynical manoeuvring of the SNP (which it is), I'm firmly of the opinion that pursuing and setting 20-30 dogs onto one animal and actually deriving pleasure from it is the act of a gilt-edged, irredeemable, unremitting, fully paid-up c*nt.

And not by any stretch of the imagination could you call me left wing.

If you were getting ripped to pieces by a pack of dogs and someone stepped in would that make them 'swivel eyed' or 'a leftie'? Should we leave you to fend for yourself in such a scenario since you appear to know best?

I think Stirling is referring to MPs as it is mainly the ones to the left (or swivel eyed as he puts it) that are against animal cruelty. On the HoL, as in the general population, I think it is pretty evenly split.

In fact, I think a lot of Tory MPs would have voted against the amendment or at least abstained.

IS not the issue here. As has been pointed out several times, the issue is whether or not the haggis munchers should have any say on English law, and anyone with a rational mind should clearly be saying no they shouldn't.

It seems Nicola Sturgeon (Jimmy Krankie) has broken her promise and will instruct SNP MP's in Westminster to vote No in the above debate which has no bearing on Scotland.

Traditional fox hunting with dogs is illegal across Britain. However, hunts in England and Wales are able to flush out foxes for pest control purposes, using only two dogs - as long as the foxes are shot as quickly as possible. In Scotland an unlimited number of dogs can be used for this purpose.

Personally I hope the No vote prevails... I see no reason why Foxes can't be controlled more humanely, but we are talking about a principle here and it is none of the SNP's business.... it's even more galling that Scotland actually allow fox hunting with multiple dogs!

The sooner this is sorted out the better... the jocks have no business voting on matters that don't affect them.

Its a free vote surely, one of personal ethics, not one of 'national sovereignty' and significance.

The only thing more absurd that Labour outlawing Fox hunting is the Conservative parties move to reintroduce it.

My view is that Fox Hunting should never have been banned, but that Hunt Sabbing should have deemed legal.

The thread title and main bone of contention is the SNP hypocrisy and opportunism.

Discuss.

Why is anybody surprised about the antics of the SNP ?
They were always going to try and cause problems for the Government at every opportunity.

Isn't that kind of what parties in opposition do?

Its not really a national issue though, not in any real sense, its really about whether or not people should be allowed to indulge in what is arguably the least efficient, and most cruel, form of pest control (which isn't actually all that necessary given that foxes have generally become an urban problem, rather than a resurgent problem of the country side).

I see this more as issue created by English Nationalists (or British Nationalists) opposed to the SNP, when the actual issue debated is one of ethics and pest control.

So is someone who puts his Jack Russell into a barn to bump off a few rats a 'fully paid up c*nt' as well?

I don't quite see the comparison. There's a world of difference between ridding one's premises of vermin and relentlessly chasing an animal over miles of countryside with the express purpose of getting a large number of dogs to rip it to bits, all in the name of 'enjoyment'.
