Well, I have to say I was surprised by Kanye West's performance last night!

It was an even bigger pile of sh*t than I expected..

After watching the shocking Kanye West (AKA w***y Set). Last night I realised how refreshing Lionel is !

Hahaha.... W*nkey Set just about summed him up.

Overall Glasto this year was as good as ever.... for me Kanye West and Florence ruined it, but Suede and Paloma Faith completely smashed it and there were loads of refreshing new bands to enjoy.

Hats off to Mr Eavis again.

Slaves, [Link] absolute class! Can't believe 2 blokes can make so much noise and the crowd were going crazy unlike most of the others that just stand there watching the acts. Ollie's Dad,Ash.

The Who are very good so far. I Can See for Miles and My Generation great as always.

Seconded. Smashed it.

Brought the festival back to what it should be. And all the middle class drivel that preceded it has paled into insignificance.

I love the who but ( puts tin hat on ) I thought daltreys vocals on the early stuff , pre suede fringed jacket was a bit shouty karoke . he has 2 vocal styles but the pilled up mod of pictures of lily and that stuff he cant really do any more . overall they were fecking brilliant , pete townsend is a god .

Day 2.....

Paloma Faith 10/10... good stage presence and upbeat superb musical performance by her and her band.... she's a good laugh as well.

Suede.... blew me away! 11/10. Butler looked a bit mardy, but great old choons expertly delivered by Brett and Co.

Kanye West..... the jury's out... is he sh1t or really sh1t?

Gaz Coombes - enjoyed his set immensely, looks like he did too.

The Bonus of the day?.....Elbow weren't performing at Glasto this year, so a 2 hour borefest was avoided. Hopefully they'll disband soon.

Looking forward to Weller later on today, not sure who else is on who I might enjoy.

...he's not in the band anymore.

The Who were f***ing awesome that's how you do it Mr K West. Best live band in the world. Some people were just born to play live. Loved the little nods to those that were missing.

Hats off to Mr Richie as well can't deny he knows how to work a crowd

Edited by Apollofuzz (29 Jun 2015 9.18am)

Agreed. They may be a bit craggy these days but they put a many a younger band to shame with their energy and skill at handling a big outdoor show.

As for KWest I have never taken much note of him before, but I was slightly bemused with his set at Glasto with him apparently alone on stage with the backing artists invisible most of the time - perhaps that sums him up.

didnt think much of the who to be honest, the FFS set was good, and the most bonkers was Goat bongo tastic...one thing that did get my goat this time was the bbc coverage, every 20secs panning to a girl on someones shoulders, the crowd or a long shot of the stage from the crowd...stop it just let us watch the band...rant over!

I thought Mary J Blige was great with a genuine and not contrived soul performance- her drummer was superb too. I gave up on Kanye after about 8 minutes. He had spent millions on lights & staging only to achieve the effect of singing in what looked like a low-ceilinged car park.
James Bay is a nice guitarist and I thought Jessie Ware has a nice voice. Bert Bacharach was different, with a very smarmy backing singer, but some classic songs.
Being pissed/drugged up on stage never impresses me so I didn't like The Libertines. I started tutting & mumbling "It's not funny and it's not clever" under my late-middle aged breath.

...he's not in the band anymore.

Did he rejoin then, I thought he'd left donkeys years ago, during the recording of Dog Man Star (coincidently also the point at which Suede slumped from being utterly outstanding, to very good, before crashing into the banality of Trash and beyond).

But Suede: Suede is a thing of absolute perfection. An 11 out of 10. Butler and Brett nobchops combined to create a thing of outstanding beauty.

He's s**t. Always has been, always will be. Rappers who never free style, and rely on production qualities for catchy tunes are always s**t.

Not even as good as Princess Superstar.
