4 contenders, none of them up to much, but apart from Jeremy Corbyn all a step up from Miliband.

Which do you prefer?

My preference would be Corbyn for an easy Tory re-election in 5 years time. He is the Union's favourite, just like Miliband was and very left wing in his views.

Labour need to sort out their economic credibility to stand a chance of gaining power ever again.

Wouldn't you prefer a strong opposition to hold the government to account?

That Corbyn, who has very little financial or organisational network around him, is doing so well speaks volumes for how stupid and out of touch with reality Labour supporters and Unions are....

You've gotta say though, given the growing support of Bernie Sanders in the US, who has 10s of thousands coming to his rallies and is rapidly gaining on Hilary for the Democratic nomination, it would appear that socialist-influenced politics is striking a chord with a lot of people on both sides of the pond, is it not?

I am not that interested in US politics personally.

Over here we've just had a General Election if you recall and socialism was given a huge thumbs down.

However, if it makes you feel better and able to cope with a Conservative government for the next 5 years you think what you like sunbeam.

You are wrong. The Labour party's policy can best be described as 'Conservative light' or possibly 'a huge mess', and this was what was given the thumbs down. It was a lack of alternative to the current political direction that sunk them.

I was talking about the tossers that campaigned as "The Trade Union and Socialist Coalition"... did they get their deposit back on any seat?

Labour were just pathetic that was what "sank them".

They lost their deposit in every seat.

They stood in 135 seats and polled 36,327 overall (average per seat 260).

The most they polled was 1,769 for Dave Nellist.

A woman in Pontypridd polled 48.

In the 2013 Eastleigh by-election they were beaten by the 'Elvis Loves Pets' party, and the 'Beer Baccy and Crumpet' party.

Trust the electorate.

No. You just can't see that so called socailist policy flies in the face of reality most of the time.
There also seems to be an inability to take responsibility for one economic disaster after another. The people in Britain who have a brain will keep your beloved Labour Party out for the forseeable hopefully. Now trot off back to the BBS Ghosty.

I have no love for Labour. The policies of the previous Miliband-led election were hardly socialist and more like 'conservative light'. The rest of the post is irrelevant.
Luckily Judy i can visit the BBS. Coming? No, thought not.

Do I hear a challenge ?

I wouldn't be too proud of yourself. The fact that you are a member of a website run by aging men with schoolboy mentalities, and in one case a love of killing small animals for fun and another who doesn't even live in England, and which is frequented by left wing self important halfwits is nothing to shout about.

Yes. You do, and you have failed. Game. Over.

In UKIPs first general election, UKIP stood 17 candidates who averaged around 257 votes each. None of them got their deposits back.
In the 1995 by-election in Islwyn, UKIP who polled 289, were beaten by the Monster raving looney party.
They were beaten by socialist Labour in 96 in the Barnsley by-election.

Whilst I concede that TUSC only scored minor votes in the election, they did have enough of a base to stand enough candidates to warrant a PPB, something UKIP didn't manage in their first general election.

If anything, I'd say that TUSC fared better in their first GE than UKIP did in theirs.

You are referring to the Anti-Federalist League in the 1992 General Election, a forerunner of UKIP. A fully formed UKIP came about in 1993 and first stood in the 1997 election polling 105,722 votes for 194 candidates (545 average) and did not lose all their deposits. They of course did far better in the EU elections, quickly winning seats.

In the 97 Uxbridge by-election, UKIP scored a massive 39 votes!
In 2003 they were beaten by both Winston McKenzie and the Socialist alliance, polling 140 votes in Brent East.

Like I say it's early days for TUSC.
As I said before, If Corbyn gets in, I can see them taking a big hit.

Nick is just trying to muddy the waters. I will be very happy to discuss the real party behind the mask of TUSC, ie, the Socialist Workers Party, who got even more derisory numbers of votes when they stood under their true colours of revolutionary 'socialism'.

It means they know what the cause of the financial crash was and don't buy the Labour Party caused the whole neo-liberal world to meltdown narrative, Hoofy

btw their isn't even an opposition yet and already the Tories are scrapping their legislative program by the day. Making people pay for care homes to water down the inheritance tax break is going to hurt the "I'm a selfish Tory waiting for my parent to die to be quids in brigade" vote as well.
