To use a football cliche - no one man's bigger than the club. Top Gear was around before Clarkson, May & Hammond got involved, and I'm sure will survive and prosper under Evans' watch. Personally I think it got a bit stale and needed a revamp anyway. The problem was though it was utterly pant and totally boring pre its Clarkson/May/Hammond incarnation

Yes I mean Quentin. Thank goodness you pointed that out. There might have been a planet wide crisis.
Good on Ched finding a new job after all his troubles, and with a payrise to boot.

I think your connection with Victor Meldrew was missed first time.... I fear your Ched Evans connection has gone the same way.

Clarkson was an ignorant prick, and that 90% of why it worked so well. Might be as succesfull here, but can't see Evans' brand of humour taking off in the states.

Clarkson is a nob but top Gear won't work without him. It might do, they've simply replaced an annoying nob with an irritating tw*t.
Seriously though, TG will just become another Fifth Gear which is quite a tedious programme.
Cynic or realist? It's a fine line! |

Like I said when this whole sorry saga began.....We are simply watching the BBC self harming itself and rather amusingly scrambling around trying not to lose considerable money on its previous flagship money earning programme. All the lefty liberals are happy to see Clarkson go of course but I'm pissed off....It's all been completely incompetently handled.

I assume that you feel that Clarkson should have been given yet another final warning, after all he only assaulted someone? This isn't a right/left issue, it's a right/wrong one. He was lucky not to be sacked and probably would have been if it was pretty much anyone else. Most Top Gear fans admit that the programme had become repetitive, predictable and a bit boring and was losing fans. It was time for a change.
It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses. |

I think the BBC already privately regret listening to people with your kind of viewpoint and as I say.....They are going to lose a lot of money. I only wish the shortfall was made up by you and those who agree with you. I detest the thought that apart of my license fee will go towards paying for this decision.

It should have been kept as an internal thing and Clarkson disciplined internally. They should have agreed on a handover to a new team within a couple of years rather than this mess which has alienated a huge fan base. The BBC is going to have its arse left hanging out with this one. Thanks to the liberal left elites running this formerly great country.
