I personally have no issue with the building being used as a mosque. It's better than it being empty for years imo. Why are you against it?

Because it will end up like west ham, once on is put in many more are, then the shops around them start changing to suit their needs opposed to everyone. Thats just a personal opinion. I would rather it was put to better use, perhaps a health centre. Although that's never going to happen

You should do some research on the group before you make judgements like that, Ahmadiyya are a progressive group that have a history of doing positive things for their communities. Here is a link to there website if you want to take a look.

Its more of an observation, in comparison to another part of London. Who is judging the group? I am not. I did not say anything about their religion or my opinion of it for that matter.

However what I did state is surroundings tend to change after a mosque occurs. It is east to point out the positive aspect of a religion as much as it is for me to point out those who want to make sharia law enforced for specific areas.

i would rather it was not turnt into any specific religious sanction.

Yeh, that's what people said when the religious place on the Addiscombe Road was first bought. Dunno what brand of religion, opposite Sandilands tram stop. Kept the place clean as a whistle and improved the image of an otherwise naff bit of road.

I reckon the Portmanor could look pretty smart as a mosque, interesting building. And definitely an area that needs the kind of love and attention it would get from the worshippers.

May have a detrimental affect on local barbers and beard trimmers though

I think you've confused Muslims with Sikhs there.

Supply and demand.

If the building can be re-used profitably, for something other than a pub, then all ideas should be considered.
Usual practice is for unprofitable pubs to be pulled down and then blocks of flats built,...£££££

the legitimate concern of having a mosque is that is gets utilised by muslim extremists wanting to import/export terror.

I disengage, I turn the page.

Its good to see that a beautiful building, in need of some repair, will actually become something to the community around it, rather than another boarded up derelict building or knocked down.

Could be good for the local area. Mosques of groups like these in generally tend to benefit the local community

Your observations are based on fallacies. Mosques don't simply spring up without any reason, rather they tend to reflect the community that they reside in. Newham borough has the second highest percentage of Muslims living there hence why there are Mosques and other stores that serve the people who live there.

To be fair, having spent a lot of time in and around South Norwood, there's pretty much nothing they could do (up to and including napalm) which would have a detrimental effect on the are. It's an armpit!

Bit like Crowborough you mean? Except that the SE25 people are not up themselves.

If people have no problem with Britain slowly becoming predominantly Islamic then this is not a problem.
If you don't like it, then we have an election coming up soon and that is as close as anyone will get to having a say in the matter.
Personally, I have no problem with Muslims but I do have a problem with organised religion, especially ones that promote, ignorance, sexism and separatism.

That is why I deeply objected to all new Churches following the Lambs of Christ attacks and Centennial Olympic Park bombing. Who do these Christians think they are with their spires, bells and hoody robes eh.

Ever since they built Southwark Cathedral the place has gone really downhill.

Incredibly slowly given the Muslim population of the UK is 4.4%. I don't really care which hierarchical organised dogmatic sky fairy group are the most popular, its all really a load of old bollocky claptrap.

Better people maybe thought spiritually for themselves, rather than letting other people in silly hats do it for them.
