Parlor and gab etc have all the money around but no skills or mindset. Embarrassing. The most ironic thing is that TPBs enemies include not just the US government but also many European and the Russian one. Compared to gab/parlor which is supported by the current president of the US and probably liked by the Russian one too. In all honesty, the reason we did TPB was to bring freedom and take back control from a centralised system. The reason that Gab et al will fail is because they're just whining b!tches that have only one ideology: egotism. Sharing is caring y'all." Didn't the founders of Pirate Bay get sent to prison? But as long as the site stayed up eh.....even though it wasn't a social media site but a peer to peer file network....and even though the site was actually taken down so many times I lost count. Really don't see the point in wasting energy debating free-speech/expression with the Left. They abandoned the principle a long time ago simply because it is incompatible with identity politics. If you are going to effectively define yourselves through how you identity with 'victimised' minorities then it follows that you will then seek to protect them from any kind of criticism. You want a prediction for the next 4-5 years? An effective blasphemy law to protect Islam. It won't be called 'blasphemy' because then it might have to take into account other religious beliefs but essentially the Left have to seek to make criticism of Islam off-limits because otherwise the glaring contradictions between what the Left claim to believe and the basic tenets of Islam becomes an issue. So you effectively look to stifle any debate around it. Hence why they equate racism with Islamphobia. Critique Islam and that makes you racist by default and therefore beyond the realms of reasoned discussion. Hence why they jump for joy when Trump is removed from things like Twitter. They WANT less room for debate. Simply not interested in the slightest in hearing other opinions. Such is life. Edited by Matov (14 Jan 2021 6.42pm)

Edited by Matov (14 Jan 2021 6.42pm) As a general description of the left it's true of course. It isn't the left I grew up with for sure. But just as the right differ so do the left and you can have some good conservations with individuals. But I suppose on a real level most Internet discussions are just a form of intellectual engagement with typing practice...while you might find out the occasional nugget it's mostly hot air. With the lockdown there's just more time to waffle I suppose. Edited by Stirlingsays (14 Jan 2021 7.01pm)

I was addressing making a platform so robust that despite efforts to take it offline, it remains online. That is what PirateBay represents. Yes, it's been taken offline at times, but decades on, for anyone with basic technical competency it is still available to visit. As I said, I'm not even for what happened to Parler, nor do I have any desire to silence anyones ability to publicly post as long as they have a basic appreciation for the law, so you're picking an argument with the wrong person. In any case I wasn't really looking to get drawn in. I was making a couple of specific points pertinent to these discussions and happenings, and had covered other aspects previously. I'll leave others to it as I appear to have stumbled into bad mood city . I'll pop back on the 20th!

But when they are back into a Soviet of Lefties, then they revert to type because they simply cannot be seen to diverge from what is considered the collective wisdom. Within the Left, there is almost zero allowance of any kind of significant divergence from what is the ideological norm of the day unlike say the Right where we are a far broader church. Hence why so many of them become considered outcasts over this Trans lunacy. Almost to a single person, when discussing it on a one to one basis, they will tend to agree how insane it all is but once back into the public spotlight, fall back into line because otherwise, it is a complete rejection from the rest of the tribe given the example set of so many others. I rather admire them in some way when it comes to how Poe-faced they have to remain when trying to convince us that Eddie Izard, despite all evidence to the contrary, is actually a woman and they considered him/she/it to be as much of a female as their own wives, sisters or daughters. That takes a real acting talent.
