So Trump will now forever carry the stain of being the first President in US history to be impeached twice. Quite an achievement in just a single term. I have a few mixed feelings as to whether it's wise or not but I can see why some do. As with the first impeachment, some argue that, regardless of the outcome, duty obligates that his behaviour had to be publically examined by Congress. Whether what he has done meets the high bar of "crimes and misdemeanours" necessary for removal is another matter. In a Court of Law it might not. Congress isn't a Court of Law though. This is politics pure and simple. Providing the hurdle of whether holding an impeachment trial in the Senate for an ex-President is constitutional can be jumped then this all makes sense. If the House delays sending the articles to the Senate for 100 days, so Biden can get his team approved, they could then move onto Trump's impeachment. With Trump out of office what would be the point, and how could it succeed when the Senate is split 50:50 and a 2/3rds majority is needed? The point is to debar him from ever standing again. Not just as a Republican candidate but as an independent. Which he might do if the GOP distance themselves. So McConnell's and Biden's stars might align for a while. McConnell doesn't want Trump muddying the water in 2024 and Biden wants his picks approved. In 100 days Trump may well be facing state-level charges and the sense of removing him from the scene more obvious to enough GOP Senators to make it happen. Especially with McConnell on their tails. This is simply my appraisal of a possible scenario but I have been right before. I predicted Murdoch would distance himself and the GOP drop him as soon as he was no more use to them. Mueller didn't end up as I hoped and expected but that was more down to the fix Trump engineered than any triumph of justice. We will see. The nightmare will be over in a week.

Well - even with only 10 republicans backing its now the most bi-partisan impeachment. Another benchmark He’d certainly try to run as an independent I think. Also I’m not sure the ‘nightmare’ as you put it is over. I’d say he’s more dangerous out of the White House than in. Certainly more unpredictable especially as he gets backed into a corner over the coming months. I think it just depends how far as to how crazy he may get. He won’t go down without a fight

Ah well. I tried. Chat on the 20th. Think it’ll all happen in the evening our time if I’m correct? Once you realise I was spot on, I’ll tell you what happens next Buy some xrp. Just a small amount. I’m just a Kev. I wouldn’t want you to see it all happen and feel drained. Goodnight Attached - ripple is xrp. Banks know something. He won’t go down without a fight If the Senate disbar him that's it. He cannot run. If he is muted and indicted, perhaps even arrested and incarcerated then his reach will fade quite quickly. I recognise that the sentiments that created his "base" won't disappear with him and that a new figurehead will emerge for them, probably outside of the Senate. what will change is where the loyalties of those who supported Trump, but not as part of the "base" will go. I think they must have been thoroughly disgusted by the events last week and they will be gone for good. A new charismatic GOP personality has a great opportunity to now step into the breach, talk sense and make conciliatory noises to all sides. Mitt Romney is that man for me.

I read an article yesterday (sorry can't remember where) I am never a fan of banning people and you have to ask why Facebook etc. are so offended by the idiot Trump and yet allow real dictators airtime and for those countries to censor social media.
