The Narcissist's Prayer

That didn't happen.
And if it did, it wasn't that bad.
And if it was, that's not a big deal.
And if it is, that's not my fault <- Here atm
And if it was, I didn't mean it.
And if I did, you deserved it.

Well if Labour get in and covid reappears you might have a rethink about how bad its been! Grass ain't always greener as the USA is finding out.

This government wasn't great at dealing with covid, though admittedly I think it would've looked bad with any party in power. It's one of those situations where peoples only comparison is a prior world without covid and so whatever strategy was employed will always look like it's failed.

So why all the popping at hmg. That's pretty hypocritical bj.
It's all about covid ironically mate.
Look at the decent position GB is in and ally it to the guess work of how bad brexit should have been. I look to me and mine and all others are secondary. That is politics!!!

Johnson with his 'no one told me the parties were against the rules' reveals a deeper truth behind how government works.

People see Johnson and SAGE fronts on the telly and they assume that the buck stops with Johnson and him alone because that's how the system wants Joe Public to think.

However, what's more true....and what Cummings wanted to change....is that institutions like the civil service control the system much more. Indeed, even above them the unelected global capital via corporations, banks and bodies exact much more influence than the normie is told.....Which is that Johnson is more a front....He could be more like Thatcher, as in forcing more control....but the reality is he's more interested in being Boris.

The system is just as dishonest as the Chinese one.....though thankfully our ancestors believed in far more freedom within it....something their current versions are throwing away as if it were a poisoned chalice.

I think part of Brexit was an implicit recognition and rejection of this oversized globalised control.....a desire to level the balance of power somewhat. Many Brexiteers have been disappointed at how unwilling Johnson has actually been to see through the implication of Brexit and instead he and his chums have 'reinterpret' Brexit in terms that most pleases globalism.

That was depressingly predictable. The Tories were always going to support globalism despite winning the election by being pro Brexit, but Corbyn's Labour selling out for votes was truly shameful.

Only thing it reveals is that the man has to go. These were HIS rules. From the Government he is meant to be leading. Its a shocking admission.

Somebody needs to pull the metaphorical trigger asap.

^^ ditto ^^

He was never going to do the honourable thing. It was always going to be a long and drawn-out political death, compromising as many colleagues as possible on his way out.

Johnson is awful.

However I'd be genuinely surprised to see him go......The plain fact is that the Tories don't have anyone else out there with election winning talent.

Odds update. Now 3/10 to go this year, so by no means a certainty, but the tide is turning against him somewhat.

I think his position is approaching untennable, but at the same time who exactly is there to replace him? Rishi Sunak is currently clear favourite!?

You Lefties are so desperate that you cling on to this low importance nonsense while the country needs to focus on far more important issues.
We don't need a leadership battle when the Russians are about to invade the Ukraine, Covid is ongoing, and there are a pile of other significant issues to tackle.
The very same people in the Tory party who are apparently trying to oust Johnson might suffer the most from his departure. Labour are not fit for government, and we should just ignore the noise from their side of the house. This is the same party who voted against Brexit to get votes. They have no principles or credibility, so it is laughable to hear them criticize Johnson on his.
