The shafting was 9! But I spoke to the Liverpool-goalie (Bruce Grobbelaar) a few years later. He said that Palace was naive, but caused the home side more trouble than anyone else on Anfield that season. They just could not put the ball in the net while Liverpool scored on every opportunity.

If by signing Sakho, we stay in the Premiership yet again this season, it would prove to be a price worth paying and good business for us,bearing in mind our minimal outlay this window to date. I have always thought that we will go in for Sakho but at the end of the window for a cheaper price. Parish is no mug and knows the impact that he had on the team and it's results last season. Surely if he was thinking of bringing in a cheaper alternative we would have snaffled Martins Inzi or Zouma yet all we brought in for the left side of defence was a youngster from Ajax reserves who everyone said at the time was "one for the future"

I know everyone is keen for us to sign him now, but isn't he injured? Why would we pay £250k in wages to have him sit on the sidelines? If SP and FdB do want him we may as well wait until the end of the window, that way we are more likely to be able to get a better price and we pay less wages. That would make sense to me. If he was ready to walk straight into the team then that would be a different matter.

Has been available for selection for liverpool, but for whatever reason Klopp just won't pick him.

If Sakho is really worth £30m then there'd be other teams all over the deal. I rate him highly but, at £100k per week this becomes a £60m+ deal over 4 years with (probably) no sell on value and the huge risk of another bad injury. It's a shame they wouldn't give us an option on him as part of the loan deal because £20m would make more sense & leave £10m for a 'keeper.
Will this be five? It's gonna be five! It IS five! |
