I think that all that shows is the utter stupidity of the teachers and police involved. I think that the teachers involved should be suspended for bringing the profession into disrepute It also shows how polarised the country is becoming and how intolerant and potentially oppressive the new Establishment are.

I like to think that I'm fairly intelligent but this is one of the few issues that I genuinely don't know which way is best as both "ins" and "outs" seem to make fairly convincing arguments. My personal preference would be to opt out of certain European aspects rather like David Cameron initially wanted but he didn't get what he wanted and I'm sure that I'm not the only genuine "don't know" Then think of what the 28 will look like when it becomes 35 with the pipeline counties all on board. That's Turkey, Albania, Montenegro, Serbia, Kosovo, Macedonia and Iceland.

I was told it was better to report something, however doubtful, otherwise the school would be in the proverbial. The buck stops at the head teacher

First of all, if you have an axe to grind, then perhaps tackle the DfE's interpretation of tackling radicalisation in schools and the subjective net that it presently covers. Schools currently work under a veil of fear by way of a constant shower of Govt directives that are usually poorly set out and left to the profession to interpret...but then judged by non-consistent levels of HMI scrutiny that have the power to ruin the careers of Senior Leaders & Teachers alike.

So I understand what you are saying. The teachers were protecting this child from the risk of radicalisation by UKIP?

So,an organisation has an express policy of neutrality re the issue .Not surprising given likely to have members of varying viewpoints.A senior member of the organisation elects to deliberately ignore the organisation's policy,so is suspended.Again, hardly surprising. Not clear how this could lead any reasonable observer (as opposed to a highly biased one) to suggest he was "suspended by the establishment for saying this" . Interesting indeed,eh?

I'm a devout OUT/LEAVE campaigner, but on this issue legaleagle is quite right Matt. He knew the BCC policy on neutrality yet expressed his viewpoint nevertheless. I would hope though that he would have had the same treatment, ie dismissal, if he had spoken in favour of IN/STAY.

The pedant gets the wrong end of the stick. His view is interesting. A prominent member of the business community thinking we would have a brighter future outside the EU. Notice you don't comment that, just some procedural stuff you think is important.
