Interesting that and I do agree (kinda) as I do with Chieka. Its a f*** up but f*** ups happen..my issue with it though is still this and something that Greenwood alludes to

But I watched it over and over on replay this morning and I still could not tell if it was a penalty or not, so it was incredibly difficult for Joubert with one look in the heat of the moment.

I still cannot believe that Joubert could have any certainty with it being a penalty, replays don't show it clearly so real time certainly wouldn't. Before TMO's if there was a mass bundle of bodies pushing the ball over the line and a mass of bodies trying to stop them, and the ref and touch judges couldn't decide they erred on the side of caution...surely that's what Joubert should have done here ?

On the 'spirit of the game' side of things then surely as well Joubert should receive some level of stick from simply running from the field at the end ????

Oh and I love this bit

Scott Quinnell tells a great story about one time he got into a bit of a ding dong with his brother Craig in a match between Llanelli and Cardiff a few years back. Nigel Owens chided them: ‘What would your mother say?’Completely defused the situation.

Another interesting quote was "I don’t know if the Samoans are making a list about the little knock-on Scotland scored before the end".

I appreciate due to the importance of the game it gets more attention but potentially if this knock on had been picked up then Scotland wouldn't have been in the quarter finals in the first place.

I personally don't want the TMO to be used for everything otherwise rugby will turn into American Football. Like in all sports part of the attraction is that errors can be made. What the hell would we all talk about if no mistakes were ever made due to replays being used to ensure every decision was correct. A game of football or rugby would all of a sudden take over three hours!

Totally agree - The England v Fiji opener was an utter farce.

Afer all the analyisis the only conclusion can be that he favoured the Aussies, it has been proven on TV time and time again that to call it a dead cert of a penalty was impossible, so how, and why did he give it, when it was clear to everyone else in the known universe that it was not a clear penalty.

I know you rugger buggers are all jolly decent fellows, but I'm 70/30 split in footballs favour, and I'm calling him a CHEAT, DIRY, ROTTEN, STINKING. And a fcking coward legging it off the pitch like that, what a w***er.

Great start to the match. The Aussies really punishing the Argentinian mistakes.

I'm hoping Argentina pick things up a bit to make it competitive. Not a great first half from them so far.

They've started to come back into it in the last 20 mins. Only 7 points in it now.

I haven't got time to read all of the posts on this topic, and I expect someone has mentioned this already, but WHY oh WHY is the final on a Saturday at 4pm?

I want to watch the game on the box but will be at the Palace at that time next weekend. There must be thousands of football fans committed to watching their team play on Saturday who would like to see the game.
Surely a 7pm kick-off would have been reasonable and considerate.

It's a gripe with me too but as this is a world event maybe the kick off time was partially agreed based on that.

Are there any other great sporting events you'd like to re-schedule due to a clash of interests?

Time to move forward together.

None that I can think of at the moment thanks.

This is the rugby World Cup final and I would have thought that all involved, including ITV with an eye on viewing figures, would have wanted to maximise the audience, and in doing so expose the game to as many people as possible. Big matches like this can potentially sell the game to people who may not have previously been that interested in the sport.Seems a missed opportunity.
