Even though SPOTY has gone downhill over recent years it is still nice to think that a great Sports Person wins the award - sadly this year is the year that completely demeans the whole thing.

We've now reached criticising the BBC for hosting a public vote which produced an outcome I don't like. How bloody dare they!

More to the point how dare BBC1 give us a line up on Christmas night consisting of Strictly Come Dancing, Mrs Brown's Boys, EastEnders and the Vicar of Dibley. Meanwhile BBC2 has an evening of Dad's Army and 50 year old Morecambe & Wise shows.

That line up does sound s***e but I can’t remember a year when that wasn’t the case - terrestrial TV has been predominantly garbage for a long time.

I'm just amazed that people on here really think the public vote counts. As soon as that list was compiled, by the bbc, it was a nailed on certainty the bird would win it. Public vote my ar$e.
This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

When you don’t like facts, just invent your own. When you say ‘the bird would win’, you are aware there were two female nominees? How did they decide who to fix it for?

I look forward to your posts. They are always a laugh. As if most male football fan give a hoot about women's football. The TV stations are desperate to promote it in order to fill their schedule, sell advertising or just to pursue a woke agenda. I'm all for women playing football, but don't try and tell us that the quality compares with men or that they deserve equal pay or status. I don't give a flying doodah about women's football. I never watch it, or even read about it. I get irritated when Sky refers to the women teams of Spurs and Arsenal playing each other as a "big London derby". It's not, it's just a game between two women's football teams, and no amount of bigging up would turn it into a "big London derby".
