Again not trying to be controversial, but is the lack of transfer budget such a terrible tragedy anyway?

I am not going to become all rose tinted glasses about it, or talk about 2010 etc., but we have a strong first 8 or 9, and a pretty capable back up 5 or 6. We should be able to compete and if we are forced to spend wisely to add to our depth (which is what undermined us last season) then 4 or 5 £8 to £10 million players and a couple of loan signings might be what is required.

I've already said, on more than one occasion, that Parish's "Sakho plus one" equates to around £40m, which would be fine. If this were to be reduced then it's my view that it would cause us problems.

That isn't really a lack of funds. I'd go further south than that.

Ok. So I will direct my question at you too. How much of this is conjecture and how much is fact? In your opinion.

I'm not saying what is or isn't or what will or won't happen.

My opinion is £40 - £50mil isn't a lack of a transfer budget. That is decent.

It is and I doubt anyone, including a new manager, would complain about that.

I find it hard to believe we have anywhere near that much to spend. What we do have will be bolstered by who we sell, Parish from day one has said the Sakho deal is hard to deal because how much Liverpool want, implying perhaps it would be Sakho and thats it.

Maybe a budget of around £25m is more what we're looking at - which would comfortably be one of the league's lowest. However, incoming managers will se we had a large squad revamp in January, thus my question is, where are these Billionaire American investors?

Raniere back in at 9/4 2nd favourite on odds checker.

Did he not just take a job in France?

Yep, further proof that don't rely on the bookies odds. It's seem as the preferred target is pellergino. If he's not given the job it's between dyche or de Boer

If that is the case doesn't it go against SP's intentions to appoint someone who is committed to helping us grow and not someone who sees us as a stepping stone to a better club.

Surely if we take on someone because he didn't get the Southampton job then he's just as likely to be off again when a club with a higher standing gives him the come on

Incidentally there doesn't seem to be much chatter in the media (according to News Now) about Southampton's new manager which I find rather odd
