One of the best things about UKIP is the type of people they piss off.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

Had an interesting discussion today about whether I'd prefer a liberal elite or a society run by illiberal commoners. Opted for the former.

The people they piss off the most are Tories, cause they know that UKIP will f*** up what little chance they had of getting an overall majority in the general election. Most other people don't give a monkeys about them.

Could it be that UKIP are getting a lot of support because a lot of people agree with their policies.

I don't share this view at all.

Labour and the Lib Dems won't stand up for Britain, and UKIP can't deliver on anything they promise.

Such as stopping maternity pay? An equal tax rate so the rich pay less and the poor pay more and wholesale privatisation of the NHS?
That's a surprise.

Sorry mate, but what they stand for and what they can deliver matters not a jot in terms of winning a majority. They will split the Tory vote in sufficient constituencies to deny Cameron any hope of forming a majority government at the general election, simple as that.

UKIP are a very good example of the dangers inherent in democracy. Both in terms of the problem of simply counting heads and in terms of the lessons that the major parties have to take on board to ensure that they do not alienate a large part of the electorate.

Who actually says a sentence like this, it sounds comically party political.

Personally, I think Britain can do better than this. Only Labour can provide the one nation government this country needs and can stand up to vested interests for ordinary hard-working families.

I completely agree, except the bit about the Labour Party. I see them as divisive and partisan, whereas the Conservatives and Liberals are much closer to the ordinary people (although the Tories are still a party of vested interests - just interests which are generally better for us as a whole).

But that is the beauty of politics!

Quite possibly...probably a consequence of age (or evening alcohol). But I don't remember a recent version.
