OK, if we assume that there's some truth in this and there's some truth in the rumour that Dyche doesn't fancy the idea of tight financial shackles (he's probably had enough of that at Burnley), then the Americans are barking up the wrong tree. Given a choice I'd be 100% behind Parish's judgment, and I'd give no credence at all to Donner and Blitzen, when it comes to deciding who's the best man for the job. To be fair to Parish, they give him the green light on Benteke and then the purse snaps shut for the duration; hardly fair. I'd rather they put their efforts into helping him get the stadium work underway, after all that's what they're supposed to be on board for, because they know fcuk all about football.

Is the correct answer. Wasn't it American investors that saddled Birmingham with Zola? Nearly got them relegated from a position of being promotion contenders. Would Parish tell them who should manage their baseball clubs?

The purse was open in January to keep us up.

At the back of my mind, and I expect that of many others, I had a premonition that the US investment business might one day lead to tears, I just didn't think that it might happen so soon. If any of this is true, and the length of the delay suggests that something is amiss, we've got ourselves in a bit of a pickle here. I suppose SP is just going to have to try and cut the best deal he can, but I'm concerned that, if this is the future, he'll sell out at some point.

Whether it's accurate or not, it's the most interesting thing on this thread in a very very long time!

Precisely my thoughts.

True enough, but it seems that may have been pragmatism to keep Sam on board and to keep us in the PL. Now that that imperative is perceived to have gone away by those in the US we may be expected to live on scraps.

Foreign owners normally get bored , after a while. They're investors not fans. I'm sure if the Americans were offered there money back they'd sell.

Ultimately if we are in the brown stuff come January they will have to open the purse hugely to avoid a catastrophic loss with relegation. Makes more sense to push the boat out now rather than be forced to with less of a chance down the line.
