Angela Raynor really had Johnson on the ropes over inflation. She is much smarter than she appears. With her as PM you would get socialism, not pathetic flag waving and yet more social contracts (for the rich). And doesn't the UK badly need it? Attlee, Wilson, Blair we need a successor. Wilson? You must be desperate. Edited by georgenorman (06 Jan 2022 5.33pm)

I didn't vote in the last GE, predominantly because I lived in Lewisham at the time which is a nailed seat with 0 scope to change. The whole system is a shambles - the sooner they get onto proportional representation, the better. Mine is nailed on Tory seat, at least our new MP seems to take an interest in local matters. His predecessor was that awful man, Francis Maude. Moved to the area whilst an MP but moved out ASAP.

Jeremy Quin has attained over 21,000 majorities in the last 3 General Elections. Apropos, voting for another party in local elections, back in the 80s/90s when I was resident in London, I had a friend who was a local Labour councillor and we had many an intoxicating beverage together ! Never voted for him once !

Probably with less than 30% of the vote, the tories could still win the next election. That's the 'majority' for you. A ridiculous corrupt system.

Just the same as unions and strikes Steeleye! Cor that's a bit ancient. And we didn't have such problems with Blair/Brown. In fact they brought prosperity.

Just the same as unions and strikes Steeleye! That's why I don't agree with the Tory plan to ensure a minimum turn out for union elections. We do not have that requirement to elect our MPs so unless they change that as well a simple majority for union ballots should be enough. Sauce for the goose and all that
