It looks as tough PV has had nothing to do with choosing the recent signings but it is likely that his name has managed to pull the deals over the finish line.

In which case the incoming players show more belief in the new gaffer than the sceptics on HOL do.

Absolutely this, IMO. Parish made it clear that DF identified and lined up targets (and probably got them/their agents to the negotiating table). Vieira's name may well have helped ensure that Olise and Guehi got over the line without any undue problems.

Let's not compare this window with previous ones. It seems that the club wanted to tread water during the Hodgson years until the debts for Allardyce's and others' purchases were paid down and many of the expensive contracts expired. Now that's happened they are going for a new approach based around a blend of youth and experience. Rumours that we may well have £50-80m to spend may well be true; Olise was £8m and Guehi is rumoured to be £18m and I firmly believe there's more to come in this window.

We have purchased youth in players such as Guehi and Olise but to my mind we do need to add to the ranks players who have not just ploughed their furrows in the Championship and who have some experience playing in top divisions. All very well going down the youth route but the objective is to remain in the PL.

I'd agree with this. The speed and absence of drama around the two main deals done so far suggests long term planning, and leaves time for either more pre-arranged transfers to follow, or for the club to try and compete for players as and when they become available I suppose. No doubt though, the club have planned for this summer to be a big one.

The encouraging factor is that there does seem to be a plan, and it so far is being implemented In a way that has the smell of being doable.
I think Parish has addressed the situation regarding Viera,s input, he clearly said Vieras opinion would be in the mix regarding recruits. For Willo,s point, which is valid, he also said it was a mix of experience and youth he was after, not dismissing the idea of bringing an older head in.
A month or so back ,I for one was worried for our future, right now I’m excited by what’s happening and very optimistic for the future.
If it’s a case of thinking Viera, is in total control of transfer policy, that kind of control went out of the window years ago, multi million £ business , is not put in the hands of a football coach, in this day and age.

Im hoping Zion Atta gets a run out at least in Jan cup games. He was looking for a move because he thinks hes ready. Dortmund or someone could come in for him.

I'd chuck him in the first team against Chelsea which should show him whether he's ready or not

It has been writtten that Hodgson had no dealings in the transfer side of things, is it the case that Vieira is much more involved in player acquisition?

My guess is that we've been saving our transfer kitty for our 'next chapter'. And perhaps DF has been busy identifying all of these players for when someone like Vieira came in. Hodgson wouldn't have been interested in playing any of these new signings.

That's a bit unfair as he was happy enough to play Eze and Mitchell

Yep, give him the first 45 mins and see how he feels at half time after he's been marked/muscled out of the game, then send him back to the Academy to work on the finer points of real football.
