I think this is probably near the mark. Wait for the “not a good window to do business, clubs inflate prices” etc but maybe the sun will shine on 1st February

Yes,Roy has already stated that the shortly returning 6 injured first teamers will be better than any new signings,so we have our answer!!

If I could only buy one position for this window it would be strong pacy Bolasie type winger who could play down either flank.
Because we sit so deep we really need an injection of pace to get us up the field quickly and make the opposition full backs apprehensive of pushing on.
Would mean more potential crosses for the strikers.
It would also take pressure of Zaha.
If Antonio could stay fit I would take him.

Completely agree with this, especially since we can't rely on Townsend's fitness.

In conversations outside of HOL before he signed for Wolves,I mentioned Adama Traore whom I had seen play a few times for Middlesbrough but I was met with criticism of the player EG Head down doesn't look up enough, lacks end product, holds on to the ball far too long etc etc.Not been a bad £18 Mill purchase by Wolves and his valuation has rocketed.

Couldn't agree more. There is no balance to the current team. Ayew is great, but not a winger, he is much more dangerous going through the middle. In the absence of Andros we have been crying out for a quality winger. It annoys me that we have been associated with Sarr, Maximin, Traore, Lookman and others and have signed no-one in this position despite having no senior cover. Our left wing attacks (not political I might add), are becoming rather predictable.

Definitely. We’ve been linked with Ibe - I would snap your hand off for him now, a sign of the times no doubt. He has similar traits to Bolasie, strong, pacey, erratic but does not have the defensive qualities that Roy demands. Basically Roy expects the wingers to be wing backs.

With Zaha and Townsend in our ranks, perhaps it was deemed that spending money on another wide man wasn't a priority given the prices being asked for the players.
Sarr was signed for £27 Mill, Traore £18 Mill, Saint-Maximin £16.5 Mill, I don't know how much RB Leipzig paid for Lookman. All players who would have been assets in our team.

...and all of which I think have been value for money. When we consider that Zaha is worth in reality perhaps £60m, we could have sold him and bought Sarr and Traore and still have enough money to pay Manure off.

If we didn't play with wingers I could understand that we don't invest in that area, but it is an area of the pitch we use massively due to our counter-punch style.
