Hodgson might 'know the young players', but he won't play any of them !

These matters can become protracted owing to a plethora of variables and imponderables.

Leeds and Southampton have not appointed new managers, Dean Smith's contract at Leicester was only until the end of the season.
I suspect that supporters of these clubs might also be expressing their frustrations that a new manager has not been appointed.

It's a bit early For that kind of talk, Lanzo; You know this will drag on more than Ru Paul in the Drag Race champion of champions edition.

And that is exactly why we shouldn't accept it because he's the option for SP to be a cheapskate and spend bugger all again this summer.

Realistically, even if it involved selling one of our big players, we need 5-6 decent signings this summer to push this squad on and I am concerned that we will just stick with Roy and revert to freebies from the bargain bin.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...

Target for the season: avoid relegation.

Quite. The modern need for the instant. These things take time to do properly.

...and finish mid table while running our books prudently.

Shouldn’t accept it ? What do you propose to do about it then ?

Selling one our biggest assets could happen. Eze, Olise and Guehi would all command decent fees. Then you gamble on getting the replacements right . And we still wouldn’t be shopping at the high end of the market.

Brighton have shown what’s possible by being highly astute in the transfer market, but they are an exception not the rule. What happens when they start to get it wrong ? Which eventually they will.

I’m sure Steve Parish would love to have a huge transfer kitty to build upon what we have. But he hasn’t. Get used to it

There's someone else who can't be feeling great about it all:

"Roy, stand by in case we can't get anyone better."

"Thanks Steve, very kind. I'll make sure I'm back from holiday for the start of training - just in case."
