So the game was derided by the BBC and its commentary team and rightly so, but was the Chelsea v Man Utd any better? NO it wasn’t it was dire too, yet these teams had their best 11 on the pitch.

We have now worked our way into a safe position within a week, sure we have got some tough fixtures coming, but is anyone setting the world alight apart from Man City? Again it’s a big fat NO!

All the games coming up are a free hit now and we will get a few more points. Until we have the fans back in the stadiums we are going to get some strange results and our players will definitely go up a gear when they have the fans backing.

Am I seeing things differently to anyone else or are we just plain bad from top to bottom?

In full agreement with you. 0-0 at Chelsea no better than our result, and we will definitely see different football when fans are allowed back.

Five teams in the top eight of the Championship are all trying to get back having been relegated one, two and three years ago, if we go down the opportunity to get back has quite obviously improved dramatically over the past three to four years, Norwich look to be up and Watford and Swansea appear to be fighting Brentford for the other promotion place, all the play offs could involve Cardiff quite easily too.

It's an interesting point, and when you come to the end of a particular chapter as we seem to be, it is tempting to see relegation as one step back before two steps forward. The data doesn't support the idea at all though.

I did dig out the numbers for another thread a while ago, and the overall pattern is very clear:

Of all the teams to get relegated from the premier league (I think about 50), about one quarter have bounced straight back up (I think its about 12 teams). However, of these 12, only three or four stayed up. Most of the time, if you go down you have a better chance of staying down, or going down again than of coming back up. If you do come back up, you have a high chance of it only being for one season.

Relegation = bad news.

Hate might be a bit strong, I was angry at yet another disgusting dire performance thats 99% down to the manager and his setup. To then hear him say that he's extremely satisfied with a 0-0 at home to Fulham and a "0-0 was going to be the best we could get today" just made me hate him. Don't get wrong I don't like him, I think he comes across as arrogant and when he gets questions he doesn't like or that are too near to the truth for him I think he turns into a tosser.

No - Im not offering him advice Im just commenting and giving an opinion on what I see every week. I think offering advice to someone like him would be absolutely pointless.

Yes - He's kept us up, He's not the only manager on the planet who could of done that.

Yes - injuries are a problem, his training methods need to be looked at because since he's been here I doubt there's another team anywhere with the amount of injuries we've had.

No - Why would he have forgotten more about the game than you or I ever will? Most of us have been fanatics of our clubs and the sport since before the age of 10. We've watched, examined and taken a massive interest in a sport and team we absolutely love so why does that make our opinions and observations worthless against someone who's lucky enough to have been given a career in the industry? If he was on this forum undercover Id expect him to be one of the ones who talks rubbish and makes no sense if Im being honest.

Curbishley myth - First of all we're talking about something that happened 15-16 years ago which is pathetic. Why do so many people bring this up? After Curbishley they gave Dowie the job for 12 games then Les Reed for just over 1 month, does nobody think that chopping and changing like that might have had an effect. There could have been other things going on too, why would exactly the same thing happen at this club in 2021?

Actually after reading that back I do hate him again so suck on that

You hate that man?

Calm down and stop being so personal.

Anyway, I'm sure he's scratching his head , wondering why, in all his 45 years in football, he never listened to your advice.

Yes - injuries have decimated the squad.

Yes - he's kept us up for all this time - our longest in the top flight in our history

Yes - he's helped us to survive with, mostly, players that are cheaper but older, since he's been given very, very little to spend.

No to personal insults against a professional who's forgotten more about the game than you or I ever will.

No to the Curbishley Solution.

Perhaps because he's 73 and at that age many people forget quite a lot of things that they used to know

I know that's not what you meant but perhaps it has a grain of truth

Many years ago, a charming old chap in his 70s, and supporter of our club, used to say to me "At my age it takes me a bit longer but I don't begrudge the time".

I am always uncomfortable when the opposition makes substitutions and we don't respond.

The substitution of Eze for Macarthy though was just right and it closed the options for Fulham.

Haven't had a chance to read through all comments, but Luka was great I thought. Counted at least six interceptions or tackles or blocks in the first 30 mins alone. Un sexy dirty work, not always noticed.

I too thought he played well the first 30 minutes. The problem is the game is 90 minutes and he was cr@p after 30.

I think it would be fair to, at least prior to this season, compare the leadership qualities that Mile had with how Luka was. Where I still thought Mile had at least another season with us and I felt never stopped giving his all... Luka is just.. I don't know, lost that 'give a s***' factor.
