Amongst the ongoing debate about the performance can we not at least acknowledge two goals of the highest technical quality. Great skill and opportunism by Mateta for the first and a brilliant volley by Benteke for the second. I thought Mateta's movement for the first was something we haven't seen in a Palace shirt for a very long time. Yes its about service but also about creating an opportunity with movement in the box and on the basis of that goal alone he looks very promising. And though I am not a fan of Benteke, that was a really well taken goal.

100%. Nutmeg on a £50m valued defender, priceless. Shamyit wasn’t Dunk

It will now be full on Royball now until safety is assured. He has managed to turn an exciting flair player like Eze into a blocker. It was noticeable in the 2nd half he finally made a couple of surging runs and Roy subbed him immediately. If he wants Eze to play like that then its pointless, play McCarthy instead

Can we play like that against a side who get goals?

I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything.

I did opine on HOL that Benteke should be introduced into the fray!

That was the greatest Rope a Dope since the famous Rumble in the Jungle when Ali beat Foreman all those years ago in Zaire. One thing it proved was although we won very ugly it was great to see that Roy has not lost the dressing room.As fans we require our team to give their all and to a man last night that’s what their did.
Long term though,we cannot continue to play in this style and prosper in this division. If we are honest we would love Palace to be able to play like Brighton did and dominate games as in the long run you will win more games than you lose playing that way.Unfortunately we need a root and branch change to our squad and a new manager with fresh ideas, but where’s the money coming from?

NSC is well worth a read hilarious some Brighton comments

"They have strikers we don't" Really!

"Their managers makes good substitutions" Yup Roy is known for that.

I've said this before if you redact all words relating to Brighton you could easily post their comments on here and people would assume they applied to Palace.

Enjoyed the result did not enjoy the performance we have to do better than that against Fulham or we will lose.

Notwithstanding the fact that it wasn’t a great performance I will extricate myself from the ‘Roy out’ camp from now until at least the end of the season. Respect due.

My face still hurts

I suspect that for quite a few supporters Mr Hodgson has gone from 'Zero' to 'Hero' after last night's unexpected victory built on grit and determination.
One has to praise the players as well for making us all elated.
