This thread possibly would not exist if we saw more home performances like we saw last night.
It was aggressive, positive and chances were created with a much quicker tempo.
Less of the passivity and conservatism that are usually witnessed.
Perhaps it’s easier to play this way against the likes of Chelsea last night as they did not play a defensive midfield player and allowed us to get at them.
In any event a refreshing change for the fans to see us having a go.

As I posted yesterday, the heart of antipathy from supporters is the style of play and sheer lack of entertainment and goals.

If we had been in 14th place and 'Safe' on the back of a far more attractive brand of football, I would suggest there would not be the ordure that we have witnessed on here.

I think this and the previous post possibly sum up the feelings of many supporters.
As Palace fans we don’t expect to win every week, indeed the budgets of some clubs would make this impossible. Everyone knows teams have off days but it has been the manner of some of the defeats which has been disappointing. I know they are 3rd but I really thought Leicester were there for the taking and a display similar to last night would have earned us something. The same can be said for the Burnley game.

Roy genuinely looked angry on the sidelines yesterday. That impressed me somewhat.

For the first time in a long time I was so despondent after the Leicester game that I realised I needed a game off.
The culmination of Zaha not looking bothered, Hodgson refusing to give it a go, not throwing the young and hungry Pierrick in, Brighton doing well, multiple players on absurdly high wages not performing and the final dagger of Sakho's cruyff turn had basically finished me off. I'd stopped caring about anything, would have given my TV away if someone asked for it.
Didn't watch last night, checked the result after and missed a Zaha wonderping, a Benteke goal and the type of performance I have personally been crying out for.
Now excited to watch again on Sunday, glad I've still got a tv.

Very good :-) Your and Willo’s posts sum it up. If we were in an identical position in the league playing the football we played in the second half yesterday there would be no complaints from me at all.

Not sure what we can take from last nights game. Giroud's goal was fairly fortunate, but we looked dead and burried after half an hour. Chelsea seemed to swith off and Zaha hammered in a wonder goal. The whole team seemed to gain confidence from that. Chelsea again probably switched off when we scored our second. Can't really critise the manager for loosing to a better team, prehaps we should have thrown caution to the wind earlier, used all our subs and sought an equaliser. But then a 3-2 defeat to Chelsea doesn't look bad on paper as the experience of not watching the game shows. My critisms of Roy last night are pretty minor. Although, not seeing anything inspirational from him either.

Please for the love of god, do not stick everyone behind the ball against Villa when we have nothing left to play for.

Irrespective of the fact that we scored 2 and made a good fist of it in the end, the fact is we were 2 down after half an hour and looking extremely flat and uninspired. What does Hodgson say to them to motivate them?

why buy "Roy" players when hes only planning to be here one more season.. thats a expensive mistake for the next manager, plus as player being asked to join Palace, when he knows the manager will be going, why would he come except for the "bucks"...

That may be true but Roy has to be realistic if he thinks they are not good enough then he is not going to pick them and the form shows that may be also true. Likewise other clubs are not going to want to take loan players from a u23 team that is bottom of their league!

not so expensive when you take in to consideration if we don't and then get relegated which is a real possibility based on current form then the lost revenue to the club would be enormous and we would end up with a team that is totally unsuitable for the championship and over £120 mil a year worse off!

I want to see the team playing to it's best ability... with passion and wanting it... ofcourse we allow an off day....
But that's all I want, heart and passion... I don't care about the result as over the course oft he seasons e are good enough for mid table and that's fine, but don't sit there with ya pants down waiting for the opposition to take turns.

Definitely NOT, seriously who would we get to replace him at the moment? There isn’t the manager merry go round there once was and Roy has done a great job overall considering he has had no money to buy players.

The team he has, was Pardew / Allardyce and the daft Dutchman built. He has shuffled the pack so many times they are becoming dog eared and old. It was forced on him the selling of AWB which immediately f***ed us, without fast young fullbacks how on earth are you supposed to mount purposeful attacks.

Give him some money to do the job , then we can judge him. At the moment we are going nowhere without an injection of money to buy players. The Americans can f*** off for all the use they have been. Let Roy and Ray Lewington get on with it for as long as we are in the Premiership it’s mission accomplished.

Our 'Net spend' over the last 3 seasons has just been £8 Mill.
Compare that to Brighton over the same period - £190 Mill.
