Jeez - it gets more boring doesn't it? I don't want to lose Wilf but think the one club that could persuade us is Chelsea. They lose Hazard want Wilf to replace. We have overspent on wages we know that Wilf is on 110K, Cabaye and Sako were around 150K combined. The average EPL wage is about 50K per week. Chelsea will get £150million or so for Hazard, we want RLC and they have a number of fringe players whose market value is £15-£20 million. These players will not get first team football with them but could strengthen our squad overall. I can see a scenario of us taking RLC,and 3 players such a Zouma, Abraham, Palmer, Piazon, Van Ginkel etc. Many of these would be happy with first team football and 50k per week. We have increased squad depth and saved about 50k per week

You think RLCs agent would be happy with £50k a week for his player, you are way of the mark. Chelsea collect players for fun, not really bothered if they play or not it seems. Barclay and Drinkwater cost £millions and only had a handful of games between them RLC is on 60K according to reports some of others are around 25K. My point is we have already lost 2 high earners and if we were persuaded to transfer Wilf (much as I would hate to see him go) We may be able to increase squad depth without increasing (but possibly decreasing) our wage bill. I think we have £20-£30 million to spend plus any sales income but our wage bill can not show the same rises as last few years. Therefore I feel the average wage of any new players will be nearer the EPL average. Palace used to be one of the lowest payers in EPL but had good bonuses now we are one of the highest payers that is not sustainable unless we increase income hence the plans to increase capacity

It's a joke that a after 6 years in the prem we are in the situation where we need to sell our best player to kick on. It should be built around him. All clubs need to sell and for various reasons. The main being they’ve let themselves and us down a couple of times with help from above, we’ve only sold Bolasie. If we accepted a great offer for Luka we’d be facing tough times. Arguably Tomkins as well. And probably Townsend bearing in mind the fee and little change left to replace him. We’re paying high fees and wages on a small squad and poor scouting is a factor. The firefighting eventually reaches a brick wall but they’ve got to sign midfielders and they know it. Edited by Rudi Hedman (19 Jul 2018 10.36pm)

This post has been merged from a topic called 'The Wilfried Zaha Thread' by Midlands Eagle Chubby black agent on talk shyte saying now is the time for Zaha to go. At least he said £60-£70 mil comparing Wilf to Gulfi Sigurdsson, as opposed to an Arsenal fan who said he’s worth £40 mil.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'The Wilfried Zaha Thread' by Midlands Eagle Got to laugh According to Mirror (yeah right) Spurs are offering cash + Sissoko. Couple of years ago they paid double for him what they were offering for Wilf. Another of "Levy is such a great negotiator" and "Poch will only make him better" masterstrokes

Edited by Rudi Hedman (19 Jul 2018 10.36pm) Totally understand clubs occassionally need to sell to top up profits and to organically move the squad round. But you said it yourself, high fees on certain areas, not creating depth, bleeding money through managerial changes, it will hit you. That's why i think it's a shame as in hindsight, not necessary - pardew should have been gone after FA cup and at least we would have not had the merry go round of Allardyce, FDB then Roy. anywyas hindsight is the word. However, now really is the time to sell wilf. We could have a shocking season and go down, he could be injured, we could be flying high and come december he shows he wants to go and then all down hill. He's gone next summer so why delay the inevitable. Edited by Vaibow (20 Jul 2018 12.11am)
