The riskiest end of investment- is no different to playing roulette right now. A quick re-visit while i'm here........... Long before this thread appeared I urged everyone here to buy cryptos, this time 2yrs ago, Jan 2017. Few (if any) took an interest tbh. Still a good time to buy.

didn't they all drop massively last year and there was talk of the bubble bursting and people losing loads? Or is it a bit like gold - there are ups and downs but over time (lots of time) they follow a general upward trajectory? Where does one buy these things from anyway?

Sorry just jumping in this thread and was hoping to hear people's thoughts. Got a friend who invests in crypto and he's saying Bitcoin is dead and ripple xrp is the one to invest in. Just wandering what people's thoughts on this and what someone who knows what they're talking about reckons the one to invest in is ?

Yeah, Bitcoin is similar to gold as both have rarity therefore both are deflationary. Fiat currencies (our pound/the dollar/the euro etc) on the other hand have no rarity as they are printed from thin-air at will and are backed by, other than the word of those who gain from printing the muck, nothing. Crypto currency is a chance for ALL OF US to be our own banker via the blockchain. Maths doesn't lie (bankers do), will never exceed it's worth (bankers do) or ever need a bail-in (bankers do).

Invest in those who've robbed your parents through inflation and will happily continue to rob their offspring............or invest in something else. You choose.

The safe bet seems to be investing in one backed by the banks why would you take the banks on ?

As with many things this'll be a slow transition but don't think that it's going away. Still a good..............
