Do you think detaching yourself from reality enhances your 'argument'? In which case, do you think we should be like China in terms of how we treat employees?

In which case, do you think we should be like China in terms of how we treat employees? Ah! The 'Gusset cuss'. I didn't say that, did I, nor do I believe that either. What I am saying is that the employee benefits our parents and grandparents got is gone. We live in a global economy, where our competitors will reduce expense to a minimum. Therefore, in order to preserve jobs, unfortunately some social aspects connected with work will or have disappeared.

The problem with this approach, is that its essentially engaging in a race to the bottom, that rewards only an elite in society, and fabricates an increasingly dire future for British Society. Because ultimately, the pressure will be to 'keep cutting'. I think a new approach is needed, to stop thinking locally and nationally, in a global market, and look towards maybe greater international based control and regulation multinational businesses.

No it doesn't. It is factual representation of the globalised business World. Your idea of 'international based control' is pie in the sky. It doesn't stop entrepreneurs. It doesn't stop innovators. It doesn't stop small business. You could argue that real damage was done when a socialist British government encouraged cheap labour to migrate to Britain.

Which socialist British Government was that - I think I may have been in a coma. And you're 'out for the EU' because? Edited by jamiemartin721 (29 Feb 2016 3.43pm)

And that's the game! Unfortunately it's fuelled by a majority that can't tell their a-se from their elbow because they'll happily continue to pay more for less................because they're told to. You couldn't make it up.
Time to move forward together. |

Radio 4 Today programme invited Mandelson on this morning to explain his support for the In/Stay campaign and he just spent 10 minutes rubbishing Nigel Lawson. Sorry Peter but if it's a straight fight between believing you or believing Nigel there is no contest. Having been asked to resign from Blair's cabinet on two occasions for corruption, Mandelson's financial credulity and honesty is on a par with that of Keith Vaz who also supports the In/Stay campaign. With Blair firmly in the In/Stay campaign it is no wonder that all we ever hear is scaremongering and over exaggerations about how leaving the EU will affect us economically. These three wouldn't know the truth if it smacked them in the face with a wet fish.

It's frustrating that the left's stance is based on peoples 'rights', which are defined by laws created by an entity which supersedes our democratically elected government. I'm surprised no one has cited the classic straight banana and fishing quota examples but rather it's all about things like the working hours directives which an individual can opt out of. Or perhaps it's about looking after the weaker countries who incidentally refused to look after refugees. Edited by johnfirewall (01 Mar 2016 12.28pm)

This morning we've had the same exit scaremongering from Philip Hammond MP and Rupert Harrison of BlackRock Investments (who just happens to be a good mate of George Osborne and his former chief of staff). It is obvious as the time gets nearer to June 23rd this scaremongering is going to be ramped up to scary levels. I predict that Blair will warn everyone that Nigel Farage and UKIP have their own Weapons of Destruction and if we vote out Giant Zombie Flesh Eating Spiders will attack the UK starting in London. Yesterday Nicola Sturgeon who also campaigns to stay in the EU (despite still wanting Scotland to exit the UK) called for less hysteria and scaremongering in the debate. She knows that this tactic nearly won the day for Scotland's YES campaign last year for Independence. The NO campaign was comfortably ahead until Blair, Brown, Major etc headed north to campaign for the better together group with all their doom and gloom warnings.
