Cant you get it in your head that people dont want Roy back, they want to stay up, it needs someone connected to the club to steady the ship, not a complete re-boot with 11 games to go, most supporters want to stay up, and many think an insider will have a better chance, in the summer it is different, we need to find out what division we were in, and that was only going to be the championship with PV. Exactly this. I don't want to see Palace play Royball for the foreseeable. That being said, until the end of the season, the positives are evident if Roy is brought back. My bet is that it will most likely be Roy until end of season with Paddy, Lewington and Derry (as said before) and then if (and hopefully we will) we are in the Premier league, Favre or Bielsa will be taking over. It's another seasonal Palace Rollercoaster. I'm Hoping that Edouard finds some form or Mateta....won't hold my breath but here's to hoping.

Simple question, why? Roy is a defensive coach and defence hasn’t been our issue. So how do you think he is going to magic wins out of the hat? Genuine question. He knows how to organise a team and has had 3 years managing Palace and we were never in any trouble under him. Not exciting to watch, but that isnt the issue, staying in the Premier is.

I think bringing in Roy (temporarily) is actually a very smart move. Lets face it... we're in the middle of a s*** storm at the moment and we need someone calm, collected, organised and experienced to help us ride out the storm and Roy has all of those things, not to mention he is a local lad and knows the club inside and out. It won't be 'exciting' football and it may be messy but the point is, we will stay in the Premier League and that's our main focus. We can un f*** our situation in the summer but as for now, all focus needs to be on staying up. I don't think it's fair to hate on Roy because he's coming back as a favour to us as he's 75 and could be sat at home relaxing if you want to hate on anyone hate on Parish. I will be bitterly disappointed if people don't go to games or throw away their season tickets just because Roy is back in, that's not what we do at Palace, when the going gets tough we rally up and stick together. Even if you're not supporting Roy, get yourself to the ground and at least show up to back the players who don't deserve any of this mess that the higher level management has created. We will get through this tough time but us as supporters need to do our bit and get behind our team. I have been questioned, why i support bringing Roy back until the end of the season, it makes perfect sense. Roy is a decent bloke, I doubt he needs the money and aggravation at his age, if he agrees to help us out in any capacity, he doesnt deserve to be hated.

Do you think that Roy Hodgson will be able to get us scoring goals? His forte was keeping it tight at the back - and that is one facet we are already managing. We need goals and someone to motivate the midfield to provide and the anaemic strikers to execute. I'd stick with relative youth (Paddy McCarthy) until the end of the season. Retreating to Roy would be regressive and possibly compound Parish's mistake.

Retreating to Roy would be regressive and possibly compound Parish's mistake. I think that's a little unfair. Managers can only work with the players at their disposal, and we have vastly more flair players than we had when Roy was here. He hardly had the luxury of Eze, Olise, Andersen, Guehi, Doucoure, or even Lokonga in his squad. And the Fulham side he took to a European final was, all things considered, not short on playing decent football. There's no question that Roy-ball in his final stint at Palace was boring, but look what Parish and the board gave him to work with. Nothing, yet still he at least kept us up. I'd actually be quite interested to see what Roy could and would do with the sort of players we have in the squad now. I suspect it might be more than some of you seem to think. A good manager cuts his suit to fit the cloth and Roy has done that throughout his career. In the end, failure to do that cost Vieira his job. We all know we were punching below our weight; good players, terrible performances. I think Roy is far too canny to make that mistake. Edited by sydtheeagle (18 Mar 2023 4.41pm)

If it is Roy, we know we’ll get the parked bus and even more demotivated forwards. Our problem, evident for too many years including Roy’s last three, is not keeping clean sheets and goals against, it’s getting the ball in the net! i think if it is Roy, we will play 4-4-2, with Wilf and Olise up front, Similar to Wilf and Townsend as a front two
