They changed 7 players to give their better players a rest..!!

Yet we still couldn't beat their B Team..!!

You are spot on with your comments, lucky for us they made 7 changes and gave run outs to some players who had not had a game for sometime, we have to face facts our 1st team is getting past its sell by date and as a consequence many are now more vulnerable to injury than ever before, we lack pace at the back and whilst Mitchell may be a good player sometime in the future at the moment he lack experience and is passed far too easily and as for Benteke well enough has been said about him on here already,he just needs to go! with AC Milan now allegedly chasing Wilf we need investment in new players in this coming window!

I do wonder to what extent TP is responding to the army of RH haters on this site. It seems to me that there are some posters for whom RH can do no wrong but many more for whom he can do no right. In other words too many people with a jaundiced view of things.

Hodgson has his limitations and is never going to set the world on fire but he has managed to keep us out of the relegation dogfight for most of his tenure.

The concern I have about him was summed up in yesterday's game, namely why his team can come out like they did in the first half and play such timid football but then after a RL apoplectic half time fit come out and start competing. It is rare to see a Palace team compete for 90 minutes. I don't mean being in control for 90 minutes but competing with the opposition throughout most of the game.

I don’t believe there is an army of RH haters - way to strong. What there is, is a side that wants him to stay as they feel we aren’t going down and that he’s doing a good job with the squad at his disposal. Then there is another side that feels he can’t take us any further and that the signs were showing in the last part of last season. And that getting someone in earlier would be more beneficial to this squad / new signings and perhaps even more so to us suffering fans. I think this side also feel there’s a good chance that without this change we are going down and see a new person coming in to either keep us up or build a team for getting us out of the championship next season - I'm in that camp! As for an army of haters, there is perhaps a small number but certainly not an army.

Thanks Palace Chick - I agree that my use of the word 'army' was somewhat OTT.

As for when RH goes/should go, I think the game against Sheff. U could provide a pointer in that:
- win and with 22 pts before the season halfway mark, he's likely to remain either until the end of the season or, if a really bad run occurs, until the board decide to panic.
- lose and the board may decide to do it straight away.
- draw and who knows?

It remains a fact that apart from the two opening wins against teams that were clearly undercooked for the season's start we have failed to beat a team that was in the PL last season. We aren't going to survive on wins against the 3 promoted teams and a few more draws. We have to start beating other PL teams and soon.

Our final two games in this first half of the season are two away games at Arsenal and Citeh and whilst we are unbeaten in 4 games against the former and have come away unbeaten on our last 2 trips to the Etihad, I'm not expecting anything from these two games this season, so at best we'll have 22 pts at half-way even with the 6pt bonanza at the start of the season.

In short I have some concerns.

I believe we are singing from the same hymn book - I would certainly prefer RH to turn it around but like you have concerns. I think yesterday we were given a boost by Leicester starting with an unbalanced team and resting 7 first teamers. I think this Saturday could be the end for RH if we lose and I think we will lose on present selections and tactics which confuses me as I think we have a squad capable of getting us results / not looking as if every attack against us will result in a goal? We shall see what Saturday brings :-)

Hodgson's hat is not on a shaky peg and he will be manager until the foreseeable future.

There is trust in him to ensure we are still a PL team next season and this is the sole objective. Thus far he has met his objectives for 3 seasons on a limited budget and he has credit in the bank.

A very good summary.

Thanks for that, must have got his name mixed up. Palace MOM according to BBC Guaita 6.85, Mitchell was 8th @ 5.93
and Benteke was the worst at 5.42. Whatever, we did get a point and Guaita did save the penalty so lets be grateful for the point as we could have ended up with zero

Agreed with that, tho i wouldnt believe the bbc if they said night was day & vice versa.

I merely pointed out, PALACE fans voted him MOTM

Yes, very correct.
It worries me that these fans read your post here and yet continue to come out with their dribble, very worrying indeed.

Just divergent viewpoints apropos Mr Hodgson with the smorgasbord of opinions adding to the cut and thrust of debate.
