Is it, I think we've done more to restrict our basic freedoms in countering Islamic Terrorism related to fundamentalists, than any Islamist group could ever really hope to achieve.

An unassailable point well made and well worth illustrating by a comparison to the UK policy of business as usual in the face of Irish terrorists in the last century.

We are the most pervasively tracked population on Earth and successive governments directly support regimes that promote radical wahhabi Islam - something that's supposed to be an existential threat to our very civilisation and the driver behind the need to further increase surveillance.

Something about that equation doesn't smell right to me.

So has anyone else come to the conclusion that the murderer was an unhinged nutter who just happens to be Muslim.

Yeah for sure, I should imagine you'd get all the Islamic apologists' vote.

Of course those represented in immigration tend to be fleeing or escaping from Islamic fundamentalists. Its hard to find many adherents of the Islamic Revolutionary Movement of Iran in the UK. I've known four people who came here to escape Iran, none of them are pro-Iran (although in fairness two of them aren't Muslim).

If the government is using terrorism as an excuse for surveillance then surely mass immigration is part of that strategy of divide and control. If not, then surveillance has become more necessary as a result of immigration alone. One or the other.

If surveillance is just a result of the advancement of technology or a general desire to fight crime then it has nothing to do with either terrorism or immigration but just happens to coincide.

Absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with Islam. Complete coincidence that he changed his name from Adian Elms to Khalid Masood. Totally irrelevant that he was a convert to Islam. Complete chance that his modus operandi was the same as attacks by Muslim terrorists in Europe. How can people be so stupid to think that it might have a little bit to do with him being a Muslim.

Interesting post Mr.G.

Its not enough to say he was just an unhinged nutter tho as this attack is a copy of other attacks in France and Germany.

As he died we don't have much chance of finding out but there must be some shared intelligence between these people.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

Only if religious fundamentalism is in itself a mental illness.

The word apologist seems to be riposte of the moment.

Has anyone on here actually apologised for Islamic fundamentalists? I don't think so. So how is anyone here an apologist?
