I just won’t be going. No need to get angry with Parish, the Americans, Roy or Freedman for that matter. If they choose to play the most anti-football the league has ever seen then what do they expect? We’ll see what happens.

Nor shall I Rudi. Apathy abounds at present. They have one chance to sort it, let’s wait and see.

It’s genuinely beyond comprehension to me that people still think this is as good as this squad is capable of - was Fulham’s 11 yesterday that much better in quality than ours? Or Brighton’s before that? Or Burnley before that?

I’d be interested to hear any attempt at explaining why those 3 squads are so much better than ours, comparing man for man.

Would it be fair to say a lack of evolution means we need revolution? genuine question not meant to be solely provocative?

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

It's a very good question. The longer we limp along like this, the more drastic the eventual remedy needs to be. Very risky, though, as the FdB episode proved.

Just to chuck it out there, which possible managerial candidate is capable of carrying it out? I don't think Howe or Dyche are viable options.

Rudi I sense you are saying this at the moment because you can’t go and see live football. Everything is in a rut currently, but as soon as we get out of the current lockdown the landscape will change.

Don’t get me wrong I think Roy should jack it in at the end of the season, whether he will remains to be seen.

As soon as they go on sale they'll get snapped up so I'm sure Parrish will be bothered, not!.

Surely it not about whether our squad is better than Burnleys, Brightons or Fulham's? It's about comparing the 11 each club could field on the day.

I'd say that Burnelys XI was on a par with ours, and our players were just awful that day. However, both Fulham and Brighton were able to field stronger, more economically valuable XIs than we were. That's not a big shock - Brighton have spent a lot of money, and Fulham have borrowed 6 of their 11, providing them players they couldn't afford permanently. Both clubs had most of their players fit and available (and in form). We on the other hand are missing five or six starters at least, and cannot rotate a tired group as a result.

That's not to say we shouldn't have done more to win the games, or that the absentees justified such defensive performances, but I wouldn't say our team (rather than our squad) was stronger than any of the three we just played. Not at all.

I don't think revolution is required - yet at least.
If we have a good window, bring in a couple more young first teamers, plus more into the academy, then hopefully we can turn this ship around. it's not an overnight 'lets buy a new squad' problem. we can cope another season with some of the old guard, so long as we update those around them.

Fair point about injuries. It isn't really going to get any better unless we possibly lighten training methods and/or get younger players who might recuperate quicker. Our injury list seems to hover around 8 absentees permanently, whereas the majority of PL teams rarely get to this number.
