Quiet honestly, Dazza, as with all of us ,has been led up the garden path throughout this. Essentially that’s not purely his fault or possibly even his so called source

The club have by their actions created a vacuum and as always various parties seek to fill it, be it fans, the media or clickbait sites. This is a situation of the owners making at a crucial time and just I think show at best nievety or at worse incompetence at a high level within the organisation. The fact that we have not announced another 'done deal' name to me suggests that there are again real issues recruiting a decent manager.

Furthermore, I cannot recall other clubs issuing such re-assuring messages to their fanbase in similar circumstances. I appreciate all of this. I’m just a little fed up with fans expressing disquiet about the time taken and the silence from the club, only to be told that makes them “entitled” when they seek news. I respect your view that you would like reassuring messages from the club but I don't recall other clubs issuing "It will alright on the night" messages to their supporters in similar circumstances. Steve Parish has said that it is better to get the "Right manager" than a "Manager now" and the process always takes longer than expected. Edited by Willo (03 Jul 2021 10.58am)

Be fair Willo, Can you recall to many other Premier league clubs that have appeared to be in such a state of disarray ,with just six weeks before the start of a new season. Those about to go broke excluded? The club is not displaying a stable stance by any stretch .

Why do you persist with the assertion you are somehow in the know or have a secret source. My theory is that somehow in your world it makes you superior to others not in your " position " Your faux sharing does not wash, neither does the " only passing on in good faith " angle. You have consistently been wrong. The great benefit of having a new manager appointed is that we can close this thread. Hopefully you will not then switch your attention to transfers. You are right that people can choose not to read your posts but you could assist there. Please stop, I don't believe anyone here views you as superior, rather deluded and somewhat to be pitied. Seriously, why keep going on about it don’t read the messages then that way you won’t get irritated by them. No one is asking you believe them. You have choices in life now make yours & stop whining about the messages. Someone just posted what others have said how do you know they have not gleaned that from me? Just saying you should not Assume things?

While I understand people's frustration with the manager situation and exasperation with the players contracts, just because the Club have said little officially does not equate to nothing being done. If the players list currently in circulation is accurate then I think most would agree that the right decisions have been made. What Parish has said is that identifying a new manager has been a '' challenge ''. That comes as no surprise - look at the pages of debate on here about the merits or otherwise of the media reported candidates. I don't have Blind Faith in Steve Parish but I do believe that by next week we will have a manager in place and a group of players that can start preparing for the new season. I will however need some convincing that Palace have a £80m transfer budget !

In terms of re-building a squad,at lower levels, clubs release swathes of players ad re-build,but of course mostly 'Frees'.

Edited by Willo (03 Jul 2021 11.16am) But it’s not just the manager is it? The time we take to get transfers across the line does rather suggest that we will struggle to hit the new managers targets. Do we procrastinate a little too much? From the not ITK outside it does rather suggest we do. (But that’s just my opinion, of course). We would/could never sign over 20 players in 6 weeks. It takes us about that time to get one done.

I said way back this is common in the lower leagues, not in the Premier. That is a big part of why so many are worried for the club.

Time will tell if this has worked. Most of the other successes seem to be the result of luck in what I have called serendipity management. I was roundly derided years ago when I wondered out loud if we would have been promoted if it wasn't for the happy accident of having a young lad called Wilfried Zaha in our youth ranks. On occasions when we have had to dispense with managers due to the risk of relegation Parish has been fortunate to have anti relegation specialists like Pulis, Allardyce and Hodgson available to hire. Some of the transfer windows have been dreadful leaving us with huge gaps in our squad but by the biggest stroke of luck we have managed to survive. As you can see I am a sceptic when words and phrases like "master plans" and "strategy" are bandied about. If our next manager is to be Vieira and he is successful will it be down to a cleverly thought out strategy or just more of Parish's luck?
Enjoying getting up later and not having someone who knows better than me (apart from the missus of course). |
