Haven't read through all of this so apologies if I'm repeating what others have said, butt boy, Jairo was absolute mustard.

Can anyone spot the subliminal Brighton message?

For me it was a poor game to watch. However it took a mistake from Ward and a deflection to get through our defence. Despite all the lauded Brighton attacking flair they got nowhere with it. Our real issue was not the Managers tactics but the players inability to pass th3 ball in attacking situations. I understand the dissatisfaction with our defensive set up but when combined with quick breaks it is very effective but when going forward our passing fails it makes the set up look poor. However our defensive set up earned us yet another point.COYP

That is 3 seasons running where we have been bloody awful against seaweed at home. They play the football and we cling on, which for me is not good enough,

My dear wife opined that had we held on to 1-0 I wouldn't have been in a foam-flecked frenzy about the style of play.
I snapped at her that I was self combusting well before that equaliser and a-boil akin to burning milk.I added that the reality is that we did NOT hold on and had we been more adventurous the Brighton goal would probably have been just a consolation.

Possession stats of 34% at home to Brighton.Totally and utterly embarrassing and unacceptable.

I don’t mind defensive, but for 30 minutes per game (less for top teams is fine) we should play with a high line and press the f***ing ball like we genuinely want it back. Not this gentle jog across the centre backs by whoever is up top for 90 minutes.

Why did we NEVER press in that game like our intention was to win the ball. Not once?

If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities.

The 'siege mentality' tactics adopted does not bode well.

Despite having the best squad since he's been here, such a mentality is an acceptance we are not good enough going forward. Best rely on siege mentality tactics then, hey?

Going forward we certainly didn’t do much to change that view. Our passing, pressing and general overall play going forward was bad. The confidence and promise shown in the Man U game but a distant dream.

We do have the talent.

Hodgson needs to show more confidence in us being a viable attacking threat. Particularly against similarly positioned teams.

If not, I fear siege mentality tactics will slowly drain confidence away and we'll be drawn into a relegation battle.

Come on Hodgson.... Sort It Out!!!

How sad is that....happy putting up with that dross

I'm not happy. Its awful. And anyone who hopes and prays we suddenly morph into man city by the weekend just because we are away against the division's poorest team are in for serious disappointment.

The reason I am reluctantly sanguine is because roy is very good at % football and getting a poorly stocked squad comfortably over the line.

The alternative is to seek to play the more expansive game we all crave which given the relative weakness of our squad can have only one consequence.

Thus I personally prefer dross over relegation which at any time is catastrophic but in current economic circumstances could finish a club like ours.

A short term hit for long term gain and regrettably short term probably means to end of next season.

i.e. job done. However, 2 points.

1. Could there be a degree of local favouritism?
2. And, remind me the club's respective net spends in the window.

(BTW, these predictions so early in the season are effectively worthless, especially given the fact that this season the EPL has gone a bit bat mental.)

One of the only good things to come out of yesterday’s game was Riedewalds performance, I haven’t been impressed with him at all since he has been here but yesterday I was very impressed and very happy to see him play with such confidence. If he is dropped against Fulham then it will be an absolute crime against the chap and I will be joining the Roy OUT brigade.

Brighton's net spend in the latest 'Window' was just north of £2.5 Mill.Probably less than ours!
