Mods.... can we rename this thread "Sydney's Rugby World Cup Blog" please......

FFS Hoofie, I don't know how many times I have to say this. The SYD is for SYDENHAM...(that's why it's spelled with a "Y" :-)

Japan are so unlucky, 3 wins and don't get through to the quarter finals.

Down to the schedulers, unfortunately. If only the Japan-Scotland game had been played with both teams on a week's rest, we might have had a classic on our hands.

Great weekend

Australia v Wales was stunning and between heroic Aussie defending when down to 13 men and some real dodgy decision making by Wales by trying to constantly bludgeon themselves over the line instead of try a bit of craft it cold have been different...edge of seat stuff though

Ireland v France was brutal at times and a lesson for England there - Irelands speed at the breakdown, both when attacking and defending was superb and was what won them the game - and is what generally does - Ireland play with intensity from minute one and keep that going way after the other team stops.

Scotland v Samoa was like a schoolboy game at times - really unstructured for huge periods it really could have gone either way and Scotland really could have gone out - Brilliant watching though.

England was really a nice neat summary of why the coaching set up has been the biggest issue. Owen Farrell in the centre with JJ on the bench against Uruguay..really ???

Slade and Joseph would have been a really good watch.

Trundling forwards mooching around the pitch, not making any real gains, slow at the breakdown, if it wasn't for Care geeing them up how slow would it have been....

I suppose having a coach who had one season at Leeds and getting relegated really isn't what you need - a thoroughly nice man, who deserves credit for what he's done but no way an international coach.

As for the tournie - I still fancy the AB's to win it but for me more than anything its a real lesson, yet again, in how much better the SH sides are at this game than the North....Wait until Argentina start their programme of their 'Super Club' and their players are competing week in week out with better quality club sides...they will be a force

I like Barnes and Owen mainly because they give really clear and loud instructions.

I bet Joubert is looking forward to hearing Stephen Moores dulcet tones after last weeks match.
