Goodbye then. Our fan base is honestly absurd at times. Sorry?? We'd been in the Premiership for 4 seasons when Roy took over so how on earth did we have a squad that 'had no right to be in The Premier League'?? You're quite right our fan base is absurd at times.. Lots of people like yourself clearly just happy treading water and not interested in pushing on... Are you forgetting what Watford did last season? Got Roy in to steady the ship and save them and he was awful.
Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!! |

Piss poor planning makes miss poor performance. Last summer was piss poor planning and we made minimum effort to rectify it in January. Well clearly he hasn't, despite having 10 seasons practice to get it right. I don't think any decent manager worth his salt is going to touch this position, one look at Parish's history with previous managers, lack of funds for key transfers, and a middling to weak squad will tell any future incumbent what he needs to know. Then of course there are the desperadoes...

I don't want to slag him off too much but he was crap with us in the end. He kept us up but we were not going to do it again. Now, it's suddenly going to work? The more I think about it it, it's total bollox.

Roy came last time to bail us out of a relegation slide and that's what we need now, avoiding relegation I don't buy all that PL experience nonsense. He's a full grown man who's been in football at all levels for the majority of his life, he's not a kid. There's been plenty of good PL managers who never had PL experience once upon a time.

If he has fresh ideas then maybe they shouldn’t be squashed by being exposed to old ones? That's fair. Not necessarily Roy but someone experienced could help him out in the short term. Which could be all he gets.

This forums so ironic and baffling at times. So quite a few of you are singing Vieiras praises and suggesting leaving/turning in your season tickets if Roy gets the position for the last 10 games because its boring, awful football. Have I missed something here??? The last 10 games we've had under Vieira, Palace have scored 2 goals and haven't won a game. Not to mention a new record of zero shots in 3 games, the lack of any attacking threat or generally any threat... any cohesion or any semblance of a squad seen over the last 10 years. At least under Hodgson there was some grit there albeit not exciting football. If he keeps us up then good... another season to regroup again. I don't want Roy back but I am not delusional to the fact that Vieiras tenure hasn't been rosy and brilliant. It's hypocritical to think its been marvelous under Vieira, it hasn't... the last 10 games have been some of the most gutless games I've seen. Edited by CpfcWeTrust1 (18 Mar 2023 11.24am)

Edited by CpfcWeTrust1 (18 Mar 2023 11.24am) Agree with this. The last few months has been the worst, most boring football. The concern for me whoever comes in is that the team has massive holes in it (rather than the squad), they may be unfit, have a losing mentality and players actually not that good. Parish must have thought he had hit the jackpot when Harris and Blitzer came on board. Sadly it wasn't to be. I don't understand those two billionaires. As I said early on and it has proven to be true, their hearts are just not in it. It has been a really bizarre investment and safe to say it's over.

You’ve got to leverage the South London catchment area - I’m not sure how that works financially unless you’ve got a massive stadium. We can’t even get to 35,000. Online fan interest - I get that and that’s clearly the focal point of the big clubs, particularly reaching overseas. We’re nowhere near that, we would have to compete on the pitch at that level and no one’s financing Palace to do that.

Edited by CpfcWeTrust1 (18 Mar 2023 11.24am) I think you must have missed a lot of the match threads if you think we all thought things were rosy. The vision of Vieira whilst well meant and viewable in glimpses last season doesn’t work without exactly the right players and we all know we can’t afford them so the end result was in hindsight inevitable.

Edited by CpfcWeTrust1 (18 Mar 2023 11.24am) I sort of agree with you. This is my 52nd year at Selhurst Park and as I've said before, I support and watch Palace. Really, who we're playing, what division we're in, and the fact that we're crap don't really matter. Don't get me wrong; I want us to do well and I'd like to see us play entertaining football but either way, I'll be there and the negatives don't change how I feel about the club on an emotional level. I have plenty of strong opinions (as you all know), but I cannot imagine switching off and saying "enough"; I'm not coming to Selhurst anymore.
Sydenham by birth. Selhurst by the Grace of God. |
